You're probably right considering the fuel in an injection Mini is pressurized?

Kopi, I 'think' they are just covered to fit over the locking cap. Best way to find out would be to ring them and ask. I know my Aston cap fitted over the locking cap.

If you didn't have a locking cap, do you not think that it would become a target for petrol theives?

You would maybe get away with a non-lockable one on a modern vehicle as you have a petrol flap over the cap, not on our mini's though.
