my starter is knackered basically. even when connected directly to a car battery it doesnt spin at all fast enough. i think its because it has been sat for a while and might have corroded a bit inside.
so a cheaper option than replacing the starter with a reduction gear one is pre-engaged and ring gear? saves about £40-£50.
good point pre-engagesd is the improvement over the inertia type so would be the better choice. read a bit into changing the ring gear before i buy anything.
