Will the specialist components ECU run the alarm as well or will the standard ECU need to be kept to run this and the new one for the engine side?

Take a look at this months Mini Mag (December '08 Issue 154). There are some guys that have developed a truely plug and play fully re-programmable ECU for the SPi and are working on an MPi versions too. One of the guys who is working on it is on this forum too, so it would be well worth a PM to him. His name is Klas. Take a look at this thread here.

MS is pretty popular over here in the states, just need someone in the know to help you set it up on a rolling road.

What size is that oil cooler - did it come as a kit with the pipes and sandwich plate and where from?

hey all! long time since i have been on, went to look at the works this sunny morning. The engine is now in and should be running next weekend, with a test drive the week after. once its been fine tuned (suspention & brakes) it'll get an M.O.T some tax and then will be hitting all the shows :-D

the vent on the front was decided after we (me and the bloke doing the job!) didnt think the place the oil cooler manufacturers said to put it, was any good! so it's been mounted to the front subframe and the air hole made to feed it!

and thats the state of the engine atm!! still needs wiring etc

to be honest i like the look of the K&N better than this, i had the K&N on but when i hed it tuned at the works garage i took it off to have the larger works S intake fitted. i lost a clip thing and halfords tried to order me a new one, but i couldn't without proof of perchase so i scrapped them and bought there competitors product!!!

NEWS JUST IN!

i appear to have found a guy very excited in spending time getting my mpi running with the standard rover injection setup, being fed through an OMEX ecu600

i shall also be getting launch control fitted, just for fun & to help me lay waste to the rot box beetles at next years mini vs Beetles (if i have him back and run in by then :S )

the chap who is up for doing this knows Norman(the guy doing all the other work on my car! as Norman works for him a few days a week tunning up TR's and when my car has been mentioned to him he seemed very pushy towards doing some ecu work on it, as apparently he'd love to moe into that market!
he was at silverstone this weekend as part of some carshow thingy! and the OMEX guys were there so he's been chatting to them and getting some info!

my Aim is to have THE most powerfull mpi mini utilizing the rover (crappy) injection set up and thus *yellow human water* past the 100BHP mark, fingers crossed! :P

I shall giddy-ish-ly post more new as the week unfolds and hopefully i'll have a start date for some real action!

Hi,,

What the benefits of the 84mm crankshaft on your engine ?

Engine must rev lower compare to 81mm one ? Adding mm on the stroke make the engine far away of super-square witch isn't good for high-rev.

84mm are very rare in engine bay, that's why I ask ...

Good car mate ! MPI setup over 100BHP are no so common.

Cheers,

Phil
