This is interesting.  I'm a newb, and I'm positioned on the wrong side of the ocean for parts availability, but I think this would be pretty amazing on my grey market Jap Spec re-vinned 1976/96 Mini.

Is it possible to fit a M45 within the confines of the bonnet and keep the A/C fitted?  I would imagine so, as the A/C is on the front and the M45 appears to go on the top/rear.    But in practice...

Also, turning the A/C off might just have the same effect as installing a supercharger.

You need to use a pump producing a high enough pressure & a proper nozzle to produce a very fine mist. The water needs to be properly atomised to mix with the incoming charge.
On a suck through it will have most benefit injecting it before the charger.
Phil.

And on passing through the combustion process it turns to steam?

what sort of supercharger do you use and were could you source one from?

most use supercharger is the Eaton M45 from a MINI cooper S. You can source these in scrap yards and on ebay for around £200 or less.

Or you could use the M45 from a Merc, chop the end off and weld a plate on. It has the advantage of not having the water pump drive on the end, making the inlet lower down, and they're cheaper. I got mine for £100

This would also be good for keeping the inlet manifold at less of a angle causing the carb flooding after engine switch off.

You could also bring the carb closer to the charger if space is the same.

I'm currently on with working through this conversion and the intention is to have the HIF 44 mounted directly to the end of the blower, this should do away with any carb/inlet manifold freezing issues, and also cool the blower at the same time without the need for water injection. When I get a bit further I will post some pics.

You know the carb will be popping out the bonnet?

He might get away with it as the intake is lower because of it not having a water pump on the end.
