of intrest to anyone, could be for people racing on a budget.

sometime ago had an idea to corner weigh the mini, but did not want to pay much, so i though clutch cylinder/pressure gauge with a lever or bathroom scales, i'm gussing a mini could be upto 250kg on one front wheel, i could not find cheap scales that big until i found these for under £40.

read somewhere an imp owner may have tried these.

drive mini onto scales and 3 spacers the same height (37mm) might use small ramps too, read weight on one wheel at a time. add together for total car weight.

They are speak your weight so you can be sitting in the car and get that weight too.

only downer is to turn them on you have to apply a weight then remove, and they only stay on for 30sec.

I cross calibrated these in kg 'results only' see below.

ref reading
5.0 4.7
14.58 14.4
20 20
25.5 25.5
45.39 45.4
64.97 65.1
81.6 81.6
107.0 107.1
127.0 126.9
141.6 141.4

That's not bad. My plan is to use 2 bathroom scales with the wheel parked on a plank on both.

Not really, I'd be interested to hear too ;)

Standard Mini saloon is 650ish kg and the suspension lever rates are 3:5 front to rear so that suggests 122kg/corner on the rear and 200kg up front.

Great thanks, i'm itching to have a weigh up, I think mine will be way out, as I have not yer set the ride height (waiting for 2 new front springs to settle), I will post what weights it gets.

Also think these ( http://shop.ebay.co....-All-Categories ) could be of interest. Wouldn't be hard to rig up some kind of fulcrum and lever affair.

I do cornerweighting on (proper) digital scales and flatfloor if anyone is interested in seeing it done properly :)

Had a quick go last night, I have not made the ramps yet and only had enough spacers to do the front then the back so i think the readings to be a little under.

front left 181.9kg/ front right 184.2kg
rear left 114.1kf/ rear right 123kg
total 603.2kg

the car has had some weight taken out ie carbon front/bonnet/a panels/door skins/boot/top dash rail/lightened subframes/no sound insulation/ally drums and calipers/ which i calulate as about -40kg i think the car should weight about 625kg.

pro corner weight set luxury, might take you up on that, it would be good to see.
I was lucky measured the garage floor some time ago and it is suprisingly flat, what do you make of my quick figures about right for a mini?

- oh yes.. got fed up with the lever scales and other such methods when i got more heavily involved with the racers...

let me know - i do all geometry setups for Track, Road and Race!

Figures are in the ball-park.. rears seem heavy and front light - but if you have a load of carbon fibre that may be why. its impossible to be accurate unless the whole car is level when weighing as it skews the figures massivly.
