hi guys, basically i want a big battery for my mpi,i found a cheap brand new hcb096 battery, someone
is selling,but will it fit in the battery box as i dont want to pay for it then take
it back as it wont fit. anyone cheers?

I don't think so. The simple answer is to measure your battery box; according to Tayna Batteries the 096 is 278mm long. I'm currently running a 068 (Toyota Previa spec) and that, at 260 mm long, is a tight fit - certainly not enough room for an extra 18mm. As far as I'm aware, the 068 is about the biggest you can fit in. It's never failed to start, even after driving 25 miles with a slipping alternator belt! (It used to be necessary with my old engine which had a really high compression and other batteries wouldn't even turn it over, but now it's just good to have!)

I am fitting an 096 battery, the battery is too big but only by the grips on the bottom that would be used in a conventional battery tray.
I am taking the belt sander to it tomorrow, to take half the width off each side.
It will then fit, the difference is only about 1/4 of an inch.

I have an 096 in my mini! Didn't have any issues fitting it!
