Cheers Dez so so I!

Apparently they're Powermax pistons. I'll see how co-operative they are if I ask them to remove the head. Wouldn't take long for them to do and would give more peace of mind.

Small update tonight.

Picked up the engine this afternoon and it all seemed as honest as it could. The engine looks like it's been 'disturbed' if you know what I mean, none of the bolts etc look rusted or like they've not been moved. This is probably insignificant but it's something.

The guy I bought it from is a member of the Kent mini club and told me to keep his number if I have any problems and he'd help me out. I'm happy that it's a good engine.

It does have a bent stud at the thermostat, and one missing for the manifolds on the head, so I'm going to whip these off the 1275 I have. I plan to paint the engine BMC green, the rocker cover silver, and certain bits which should be black errrrr........ black. Then it'll be bolted in as is, apart from a good flush out of the waterways. Once its in and the car is complete, I'll take it to a rolling road for a complete set up.

I do need some advice though, the engine doesn't have an engine number only the stamping from the person who built it, what do I put in the logbook?

I'd likely just put the builders stamp, or whatever they have stamped on it.

I'm completely amazed by Peters work after seeing all his threads. I should know only to see perfection from Peter by now.

Good luck with the project chap, and once again fantastic work Peter, you're an inspiration.

That is what I was thinking, or you could contact the builder and see if they have any more info?

Small update, I'll do a proper one tomorrow.

After 7 and a half hours of driving in nasty weather, the mini is safe in the garage.

OK so now I have more energy to actually type here's a proper update.

Friday was the day to collect the mini. It felt like an age for friday to come but it finally arrived.

I woke up at 7am, and left at about 7:50 to go and collect the trailer. I left the trailer place at 9:00 and started the motorway trip to Weston. It seemed to take forever........

The slightly frustrating thing was the weather. It was rubbish! It did start brightening up by the time I got to Weston so I was hoping it would stay that way.

Got to Westson at about 12:15 and this is what I was greeted to.

>_<

A big dent in my pocket later and I was on my way again. I was at Pete's work for about half an hour. So 12:45 and it was back up the M5 and M4 home, and a stop for a spot of lunch at the services.

Trailer pic on the way home. You can see by the state of my van how dirty the roads were. It was saddening looking in the rear view mirror seeing the shiny white mini get coated in dirt. Still, I was on schedule for getting to my house for 4:20, leaving enough time to get the trailer back before they closed. One thing that decided they didn't like that idea was......

M25!!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!! >_< ;)

Stuck on the ruddy thing for what seemed like forever. Weather getting worse, mini getting dirtier, Scrippo thinking he'd get charged for another day if he didn't get the trailer back on time. STRESS!!!

Anyway, after an eternity on the road to hell, I got home at 5:30. Unfortunately the hire place closes at 5:30, but I called them and it was OK to leave it until the morning, no extra charge.

It was home! Rebuild starts tomorrow! Or so I thought.......

Well the dirt has got into every nook and cranny.

Tried jetwashing it today and tried drying it.

The rain wasn't helping. Even in the garage it wasn't drying. Really frustrating!

That white looks really good. Didn't suffer any rock chips on the way home did it?
