Wow, been over a month since I've done any work on the mini and updated this page!

Well not entirely true, I bought a connector block from Holden (recommend them, the do some cool resto stuff) and refurbished the wiring for the speedo. Looks like it came out of the factory now. Also did the rear lights.

Sent a few more bits at the powdercoater, brackets for the seats, bonnet latch, alternator and distributor bracket, and fuel tank.

Also ordered some rear shocks from minispares, a few more odds and sods for the wiring from Holden, so can get some real progress made soon. I'll get some pics sorted as well.

Right, today got some small bits done.

Sorted out the boot. Gave it a clean up as it had filled up with loads of dirt over the months sat in the garage. Finished sorting out the wiring for the rear lights, and gave the spare wheel a clean. Now all I need to do is fit the rear shocks, rear foglights, sort out 2 earth connections and the fuel tank when its done then the bootlid can go on. Finished boot! Then a number plate and a rear bumper is all that's stopping me from a complete rear end!

Also fitted my group 2 arches. Was planning on taking a pic but as soon as I pushed the car out of the garage it started raining! Will get a pic when it's dry.

i envy your enthusiasm. i am 17 and bought my mini about 7 months ago. it failed its MOT on a rusty floor pan and as we chop more away we find more to do. pain in the arse but getting there. i rarely look at a white mini and envy the owner but damn urs looks good. keep up the updates i wana see the end result.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's taken a while to get back into getting some progress done!

Some pics with the arches

The arches are the narrow group 2's. I think they're just legal, just covering the tread. I plan to fit some edging trim which will give me an extra couple of mm width. I think they look awesome! The suspension isn't properly set up yet so it doesn't yet have the stance I'm looking for. They fitted a treat as Pete had dummy fitted them while he was doing the respray. There was no way I was going near my freshly painted shell with a drill!

A cheeky snap taken on the motorway. Not project related but a comparison of old and new. Cool (classic) mini if it's yours!

Yeah really excited. Not much left to do, just no time to actually do it!

Got some shocks arriving and my fuel tank should be here by the end of the week, so definitely getting nearer.

Hi all,

These arrived this morning!

Posted Image

mmmmmmmmm shiny

Will get to putting them on at the weekend. Just need some of those plastic spacer things for the bottom mounting bolts.

A word of advice kids!!!!!!!!!!

Don't ever throw away the cork gasket for K&N cone filters. I did, thinking gaskets were service parts (like you do!) Turns out that the mini specialists don't keep the gaskets on their own (welll minispares anyway), so emailled K7N direct.

They gave me a part number, but said I need to order one from a dealer, as they don't sell direct. So I did. £2.38 per gasket, plus another charge and £6.50 despatch from K&N!!!! So I thought I'd get 3 as I'd almost make the postage worth it. Ended up spending £15 on 3 gaskets!

Well they come on Wednesday and they better be good!

Thanks Emalee

The closer it gets the more frustrating it's becoming! If I had the money I'd have it finished next week, but have to wait each month to buy bits for it!

Thanks James, thats what I thought. There's too many out there with black roof and black arches.

Off out to do some bits and pieces after dinner. Will update later.

Thanks! I'm trying to get retro retrims to sort me out a rear seat cover to match.

Does anyone have any idea how I can tighten up the top bolt for the rear shock? I've got it so tight but now the bolt starts to spin with the nut. Does this mean it's tight enough?
