These arrived today!
Once I finished work I popped straight down to the garage to get to fitting them. Pretty much bolted straight on. They are supposed to be Cobra subframes but I removed a small amount of metal with a file and they went straight on.
Another blunder I made was to throw away the hinge brackets when I took my old seats to the tip. I'm officially never throwing away anything again! Once I have these I'll get them powdercoated and then fix the seats in the car.
Its amazing how much of a difference a pair of seats makes! It feels like a car again!

I'd hate to think someone did as I did and had an accident!
The best advice I can give is double check everything, and do 1 job at a time. It's easy to get sidetracked and forget to tighten up that all important bolt. I've created a spreadsheet with all the jobs I have to do and I'm sticking to it, so hopefully everything will be covered. I still have no idea if the mini will work yet!

I'm so close to the end now it's exciting but dead frustrating! I keep getting the urge to jump in it and take it for a blat around the lanes!

PLEASE don't take everything I do here as the correct way to build a mini. I'm doing loads of working it out as I go along, reading the Haynes, looking at pics of other cars, and as you've probably read, making some mistakes pointed out by the good folk here at TMF.

Decided to give the rear floor inside a clean as I'd trampled a load of dirt in there over the previous months. There are a couple of scratches on the floor, but I'm not overly bothered as they will be covered in carpet. Also fitted the rails that the seat subframes clip onto. Bit annoyed with myself as I scratched the crossmember being overkeen by sitting in my new seats before I had them bolted in, but hey, you live and learn.
Finally got around to starting the wiring for the speedo, not finished yet but it'll get there. Also fitted the steering column pinch bolt, and tightened up the steering rack and column properly. Another small job was fitting the breather on the gearbox side.
Small bits and pieces really, but they all add up!

Just bumping this off the depths of the third page! Been away with work so not had a chance to work on the car. A box of bits was waiting for me when I got in so there should be some progress next week.
