I've just fitted a new RC40 pipe to Floyd :P and while it's given him a bit of grunt instead of sounding like a fart in a bucket he's still too quiet  Now I'm sure I read somewhere on here that it was possible to chop open the backbox (single box by the way) take the baffles out and weld it back up again, to make it louder and in theory less restrictive... What say you? Anybody else done it? Does it work? Is it nice and loud??

Bugger, sorry, didn't mean to post this here, somebody may want to move it >_<

can cut a hole and pull the wadding out, then weld it up. Not recommended though you get itchy hands and it can mess with shockwave tuning.

Wadding... mmm. Didn't think it'd have wadding in it. I guess I'll just have to buy a louder pipe then when I've driven it for a bit and my dad can't refuse to drive it... >_<

I've done it with a bike can. Opened it up. Removed a load of baffles and rewelded it all back up a few inches shorter too. Don't think it would work on a car exhaust. Best bet is just find a cheap 2nd hand box off ebay.

I'm sure I read somewhere on here that you could, but I could just be making things up again. Would be sweet if you could do it, as I really like the exhaust, wouldn't really want to get rid of it until it had holes in it :dontgetit:

i found during extensive exhaust rejugging to get the RC40 to fit on a midget, that the end pipe (behind the silencer) makes a huge difference to the noise - you don't have to go fartcan large to get a good noise

Are you suggesting I cut it off?? I like it, it's shiny :dontgetit:

Anyhoo, once the RC40's had its day, which admittedly won't be for a while unless I have an unexpected run-in with a sleeping policeman :dontgetit: , I might chop it open and see what lurks inside, see if i can make it any louder :withstupid:

So, do maniflows have wadding and baffels etc in their back boxes?

RC40 is a straight through system. I'm guessing Maniflow is the same construction.

Your RC40 is brand new. Just give it a little time to 'burn out'.
My RC40 got more than noticable louder after about 10k miles >_<

Just take the silencer off completely and weld a straight piece of pipe in there if you want it louder! Or just take the whole exhaust off. I drove mine for a while with no exhaust or manifold and it was quite loud! >_<

Ok i got bored of welding in my boot floor today so thought, meh whats the worst that can happen, and chopped my maniflow up, and pulled all the wadding out, welded it back up, and it is noticeably louder and thats not even under load.

AWSOME!

Hopefully will still past the noise test at coombe >_<
