Hi, i want to put a yammy R6 engine in the front of a mini, but is it possible to keep the original gearbox and clutch rather then using the R6's gearbox and clutch..

by the way, are there any very very very quiet exhausts for a yammy R6 engine ?

doh... ;)

my answer is "most likely not", but anything is possible if you have the time and skill to fabricate a conversion kit. would rather keep the R6 box and fit an reverse motor or reverse box

have you spoken with Promotive?

Surely the engine torque and bhp will be excessive for the mini drop gears, clutch and the box itself.

yup, and only 4 gears instead of 6. probably more hassle than going with off the shelf set ups available

so 4 gears on a box only ever designed to take 34bhp, mated to a bike engine?

Or a six speeder squential box the engine comes with?

Is a tough choice i can see there.

unless you can fabricate your own bits then this is going to be very expensive and would not work IMO.

I am wondering how you intended to remove the R6s gearbox, its casing is an integral part of the crank case so I should imagine it would be rather difficult? If it was at all possible, the cost of the huge amount of specialist machining needed would make the project a no-go IMHO.

a stage 1 tuned 1275 is probably torquier than the r6 engine.

keep the 6 speeder, with the 4 speed box the car would be slow as hell

Bike engines dont produce as much torque as car engines, hence they rev like nut cases to make power!!

The standard mini gearbox is fitted to the 850 and 1275 engines, no difference except the turbo box has a bigger nose bearing.

a standard 1275 has more torque than an R6
