well this all comes down to taste and budget, you can get some good products from halfords, they do a large line from auto glym.

if you are going for a all out concours look, i use auto glym, they do a polish that is second to none! but you pay for what you get (£60 for a bottle enough to do my car twice!) but it comes down to taste.

if you drive your car every day(like i do now :nugget: ) a cheeper polish such as MER, it's available from halfords, once you've cleaned your car, just quickly chammis your car, and apply over the damp panels, once it has turned a milky colour and gone tacky, wipe off with a clean dry cloth, don't do the usual"take off in a circular pattern" this leaves swirls it the paint and looks poo when the sun shines on it!

any polish's you would like others to know about, feel free to post

cheers ryan.

I've tried a few different polishes and waxes

I like the easy spray on waxes that you just spray on, buff off! like AutoGlym show shine, Easy Shiny!

I've used TurtleWax Advanced ClearVue Wax and hated it. It's awkward to use because it says you need to apply with a dry cloth, rub off with a damp cloth then wipe over with a dry cloth. It left wierd sort of oxidised marks on my red paint too :) carp imo

4 easy steps

1. wash with halfords 'avanced car wash'
2. 'halfords alloy wheel cleaner'
3. turtlewax 'extreme speed wax'
4.halfords 'wet-look tyre dressing'

ta-da, nice and clean

I use carnuba wax by turtle wax. Doesnt streak or stain plastic. It is quite pricy though. What do you think?

Having trouble getting more though.

At the body shop where i work i detailed for a year and a half so if anybody has questions I'd be willing to help out as well.

The polish we use at work is by a company called "Farecla" and I use a air powered polisher. When I polished at work it consisted of 3 steps.... first I use a cut polish (G3 is the name of it) with a harder polish pad, second I replace the polish pad with a soft one and polish it with the swirl remover polish (called G10) after that i would by hand apply a wax to the panel called permashine. This whole process leaves the panel looking and beading like a new paint job.

I like Zymol shampoo, followed by Auto Glym Super Resin Poish and finally a coat or two of Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection. I use mainly Auto Glym products because my bro has loads for his MR2 and I can just pop round there and blag them - although he has cottoned on and makes me buy my own now

In fact, my whole boot is full of Car polishing products - I swear the polish is the only thing holding the car together these days!

The spray wax i use is real cheapy thing! It's actually meant for bikes and is by a company called Dream Machine its called Fairing and Body Wax. The car based sister company i believe is CarPride and they also do a spray wax.

I keep it in my car on occasions like L2B when you just want something quick and easy but still gives a nice shine!

I've just done my car with it in this pic!
