Thanks Terry, I don't feel quite so bad now. I see about 25 MPG in mixed driving, maybe a little over 30 MPG on the highway (but not at 70 MPH). That would be about 31 and 38 MPG Imperial. I've never had the right needles in my carbs anyway so I can't complain that much!
For those in the U.K., the Imperial gallon is about 20% larger than a U.S. gallon. The Imperial MPG numbers can look awful big to someone like me who buys gas in U.S. gallons.

Sorry, I can't provide a link to MegaJolt. You should be able to Google for some links to them.
However, MegaJolt is not a distributor in terms of a "pull the old one out, put the new one in" piece of hardware. MegaJolt is a crank-fired ignition system that involves computer controlled firing of the spark. There are no cams to open and close points (or electronic switching module) causing the coil to fire. Think of it as a bolt-on computerized ignition system. You'll hear people talk about their "maps" for MegaJolt. These are somewhat analogous to advance curves.
Others will surely post to correct and elaborate on what I've said. It's not something I've spent any time researching.
