Hi all...

I wonder if i can get a result here??, my mini is going crazy aswell as me!!

Ok, My gas pedal has dropped to the floor, but i can pick it up and it falls down again!! ( its not stuck to the floor! )

...And when i turn her on she goes up to 7000rpm ( and im not talking about the wife ) :)

Has anybody any clue what this can be, if so any advice how to repair it??!!

Thanks

sounds more like the throttle cable has frayed and stuck in the outer housing! Or that a linkage on the carb has jammed? (actually, is it carb or SPi? can't remember)

i know it is not a mini, but my brothers clio had the same problem, his actually frayed and caused it rev randomly. it had been rubbing on the metal housing and cut some of the strands on the cable. it was causing it to stick all the time.

he replaced the cable, and it was fine. dear parts from renault though!! :nugget:

hope that helps Leigh :)

:dontgetit:

I dont think it is the throttle cable, as if it where snapped it would not rev the engine...

i think minis84 could be about right, or maybe its the spring!! im getting it picked up tomorrow and taken to a mini shop where i live, i will let you know what the outcome is...

@mini_sam@ your avatar reminds me on the late Roy Orbison!! :) coool though...im not taking the mick!! :cheese:

Sorry for double posting!! im not after getting more points!! :nugget:

This could be true aswell about the cable, as i said i dont think it has snapped but maybe fraid, this often happened to me once or 4 times in the past!! dipping the clutch and changing in to 2nd gear on the corner and then taking off like a rocket...and sometimes when i dip the clutch anyways the revs dont go down like they should...it sort of holds then drops slowly!!

I wish i was more clued up on the engine, i keep promising myself a 1275 for just practice...

And try to find a honest mechanic...you never know!! :dontgetit:

i dont ever trust a German with a smile on his face!! :) ( joke, dont want to upset our German friends or the father in law ) :fear:

mine snapped. it rev'd to high heaven too. Think the spring that goes from linkage to plate was tight and that caused the revving.

Defo fit a new cable either way.

If its a carb Mini it sounds like the spring will have snapped and the weight of the pedal is pulling the carb open to its max throttle. Check the spring is still there :)

Ok...got mini back, what happened was the throttle cable was kinked under something...so it had to be changed!! running again like a dream...

Minis eh?? sometimes i wonder whats it all about... :erm:

One of my Polish mates here in Germany got the sack from his old job, because he was cleaning cars at the time and he had to clean a mini, anyways the keys where on the front seat and the car started and ran in to a wall...is this possible??? anyways he was dismissed, and then 2 hours later the boss called up and said it happened again..." you have your job back!! "
