t cut or polish afterwards should be fine, although you may find the previously covered paint is brighter than the rest

I should know being a girl! and is pretty aggresive - I would suggest methylated spirits, spirit wipe (as found in body shops), isopropyl alcoholor (don't try drinking it like me

Try goof off. I've yet to come across anything it cannot remove. even black permanent markers. I've used it on my car to remove road traffic marking paint I unknowingly drove over and splashed. it does not harm the paint (probably harms the clear coat, but I can't see anything.) if you do it fast enough and have water to wipe it off right after. But test it on a hidden area first before you start rubbing.

other things i have used have been brake cleaner, not too aggresive and makes the glue go goey and then it comes off. Not a nice job at the best of times though.
tar and bug remover is very good though, a valetor spent 4 days using that stuff to get 5L of white gloss paint of a black bmw my cousin bought!! God knows how much of it he used!

will the weather being cold make any difference to how easily it comes off?
when i used white spirit on the glue left on my inner glass it came off fine it's just where the pinstripe was that there is some left
