i've just removed the 35 stickers and pinstripes from my mini but there's quite a bit of glue been left on especially from where the stripes were am i right in thinking i just use white spirit to remove it? then use tcut and polish to bring the shine back after wards?

Dunno about white spirit, but I always use that lighter fluid in a yellow tin :D Never used it on paint though :D

thinners is the best thing, or white spirit, but white spirit is a bit greasy, and the thinners evaporates afterwards too.

t cut or polish afterwards should be fine, although you may find the previously covered paint is brighter than the rest :D

Christ on a bike fella :D never use thinners on paint unless your absolute certain its 2k even then its been known to dull and/or remove the clear, the same goes for nail varnish remover :D . Use a more subtle solvent like acetone or white spirit although i do preferably use this Click Me !! on newer paints but have had no experiance with it on older paints and have never had problems with it yet.

.....Acetone IS nail varnish remover!!! :D

I should know being a girl! and is pretty aggresive - I would suggest methylated spirits, spirit wipe (as found in body shops), isopropyl alcoholor (don't try drinking it like me :D ) even hot soapy water an' a good old rub with yer thumb

Try goof off. I've yet to come across anything it cannot remove. even black permanent markers. I've used it on my car to remove road traffic marking paint I unknowingly drove over and splashed. it does not harm the paint (probably harms the clear coat, but I can't see anything.) if you do it fast enough and have water to wipe it off right after. But test it on a hidden area first before you start rubbing.

i not had any issues using thinners

other things i have used have been brake cleaner, not too aggresive and makes the glue go goey and then it comes off. Not a nice job at the best of times though.

tar and bug remover is very good though, a valetor spent 4 days using that stuff to get 5L of white gloss paint of a black bmw my cousin bought!! God knows how much of it he used!

will the weather being cold make any difference to how easily it comes off?

when i used white spirit on the glue left on my inner glass it came off fine it's just where the pinstripe was that there is some left
