Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

I am in the process of reconditioning my front subframe. I stupidly decided the wire brush the swivel hub without blocking up the holes and the dirt went into the bearings.
Is it possible for me to clean the bearing by washing the dirt out or is my only option the buy new bearings?

ooh, i dont know about that mate is there a lot of the dirt and is it in all of the bearing or just on the top, if you dont get it all out the dirt will embed (if thats how you spell it lol) itself into the ball bearings and cause it to knock can someone confirm that i am not talking a load of rubbish cheers

Strip the bearing and clean it in a parts washer or simular.Re grease the bearing with the correct grease.
Dirt in a bearing will cause premature wear.

i take it you have disc brakes as its an 86 im guessin uve not converted back to drums.. but either way.. knock out the outer races of the bearings and just do as people have sed use a parts washer to give them a good clean making sure you put plenty of grease in afterwards such as litium grease or high tempreture kluber grease is what i use good banana.lol
