Doh! I'm starting to think a bike engine may not be the way to go afterall then. I really need the mpg because it would be a daily driver. Shame because it ticks a lot of the other boxes...

Nice.

I don't want to run two cars. I just don't see the point of owning two, paying to two sets of tax and insurance, seems a waste.

Basically if MPG is your main concern about buying a bike engined car then I think you really shouldn't even be looking at one. This is such a minor part of the general cost of owning and running one, that if that is making you have doubts then I really don't think you're in the best position to get one as it will only be a bad experience.

If you go into ownership well informed and with your eyes open they are simply amazing but if the extra couple of pounds of fuel is a great worry then i really think you should reconsider.

to be honest i was planning on building the whole thing myself, including the frame. I wanted to go with double wishbone suspension front and rear and a bike engine would make that very easy due to the size. It would be funded by selling my current 2L 16v mini. I was posting on the zcars forum instead of the motorbike forum because there are more z cars bike engined minis than anything else out there...
