Although my car is in very good condition, i am a little wary about using the standard roadside jack that sits in the middle of the sill. are there any alternatives, will a bottle jack fit under the car?
thanks

Don't think a bottle jack would fit - I use a fairly standard scissor jack.

Halfords do a five piece lifting kit including trolley jack, pair of axle stands and chocks for £44:99
Top value.
The little trolley jack sits nicely in the boot.

You're absolutely right, you really don't want to use the sill jackin point. The subframes are far more sensible.
Even some trolley jacks can struggle to get under the mini, but a bottle jack has no chance.

Use a trolley jack. I got mine out the Argos for £20. I'm thinking of colour-coding it to the car and keeping it in the boot. Axle stands are cheap, places like Aldi do them now.

I've been using some scissor jacks for a while now, but bought a trolley jack at the weekend. What a difference it makes! Jacking the car up is a sinch and it goes up much higher than if I were using scissor jacks - made putting my exhaust back on easy peasy!

I agree, Trolly jack all the way!

Trolley jacks are good! Depends what you need it for though, for general use get a trolley jack, but for emergencys and just to keep in the car, wont the sill jack be ok?
I always found the design fault though that you have to have the door open to jack the car up, what if its raining?

I have a little 2 tonne bottle jack that fits perfectly under my mini. I find that trolley jacks don't jack the car up high enough to fit an axle stand underneath

i keep a scissor jack in the boot for emergencies. No point lumping a trolley jack around just to change a wheel.

i have one of them kits mini monty was on about and the trolly jack fits under with ease, bit tight at the front but fits in, and the axle stand also fit in, in my oppinion the trolly jac is the best option
