hi was wondering if anyone knows the best way of painting chrome.

is there a way so it doesn't come off in about 2 weeks

ive had a change of plans and now going down the mat black route.

painting everything mat black and tinting the windows ( basically the blacker and meaner the better, might paint a little devil on the bonnet as my number plate is dev) lol

cheers

Rub it down with red scotchbrite or wet&dry 600 grit, then etch prime and topcoat.

Yep some bumpers were painted, came in black and grey I believe. They were just painted steel, and so rusted quite quickly!

you can also get matt lacquer, which obviously isn’t shinny when dry.

You’re not wrong there; they are also more prone to stone chips which if left also rust. :xxx:

Does anyone know if the after market ones are any better for not rusting? My mates just bought some and plonked them on his car, should he do anything to them to make them last more than 2 weeks?

you could take them off and paint the back of them with something like hamerite.
also a couple good coats of wax would help the chrome.
