I can't remember now, but did you build it yourself, or was it ready to run?. If its crapped itself, how do you stand on sending it back?.

You can't build them yourself anymore. The latest version of megajolt/e like I have has to be machine built or something.

But yeah, I soldered in my hard rev limiter so Im assuming that will make any kind of warrenty void. It's annoying because it stopped working before I even started messing with the wiring.

Yeah, I don't know enough about this type of electrics to test any of it aswell, all I know is that its getting a signal to the plug but then doing nothing with it. I think im looking at having to buy another one. I can't put my dizzy back in either, not that I want to mind. Im not getting any reply on the autosport labs forum either, idealy I'd like to try someone elses ecu to test.

This arrived today, but due to recent money issues and now the megajolt issure, it looks like it won't be used for quite a while.

Just been doing some sums and realised that I needs another £300 to finish the turbo installation.

I do not have this money, so will put off the turbo install until after riv run, and probably after uni is all done and dusted.

Im going to struggle to get a new ECU for my megajolt at the moment. Getting it comfortable and reliable for Riv run will be my target.

Yeah, limited to no response, but by my reasoning, it smells like electrical burning, and its not reading a signal its getting clearly from the car.

It's bummed.

Stick a pic up of the connector Ben. If it's the same as the V4 model I can send you my ECU to borrow?. Not like I'm gonna need it for a while, and its tried and tested.

Is that still a ULN2003 chip? - I got a Mk3 MJ & that's in a socket for easy replacement, because of such happenings.

The chip is readily available for a couple of quid, if you don't feel up to replacing it let me know, think I've still got details of ASL's man in the UK.

ULN2803 I think. I've seen them available online, but im not up to the job of changing it. Im waiting on a reply from ASL to see what they say about it, he requested a load of pictures of my board.

The thing is, if the chip has died, how do I know that the rest of the components are still good? I might buy a new chip, pay someone to solder it in, and it still not work properly. Being a surface mount board now, it means that it's extremely difficult for DIY repairs. Not that my soldering skills go much further than joining wires and some school work tyre circuit boards.

It's for this reason the megajolt/e which I have is not offered in DIY kit form.

Would have been nice if the chip was in a holder so that I might have just swapped it.

I'd be surprised if anything else in the MJ is fried if you can interface it to your pc. You could blow in to the MAP tube to see if it registers on the runtime screen. The blown chip is just a load of darlington pairs to interface/protect the processor - it's almost intended as a fuse, hence the socket on the earlier boards.

Ohhhh I see, yeah it still registers map pressure on my laptop, I'll see what ASL say and go from there.

After speaking with autosport labs, it seems it was my fault the megajolt died. They are being a bit slow at responding, currently waiting for a response to see if there is anyone in the uk that can fix my board. If not its going to have to go back to the USA to get a new chip.
SOOOO im currently running on HARBOR07's megajolt v4, thanks man!!! Until I can get mine sorted.

Just got to get it mounted up properly and tidy up the wiring, but I loaded a map for my engine on it, and it's quick again and revving like no ones business.

To get my turbo on the car working now, I need a head with 28cc or more chambers.

Posted Image

I have this one I bought of Turbo minis

Posted Image

Or the one buried in there. That block and head where given away by jeo022 off here. Either the head or block has a problem passing water between the oil. So I will use the head to practice opening the chambers. Not sure on the block yet, probably use it for mocking up oil returns etc I do however need to take them out of the boot as it's running a bit low at the moment.

Now, the knock I had when I built the engine dissapeared not long after running the engine in a bit, but after driving to melksham to pick up that block and head it has come back. So will have to investigate that again some more.

And my exhaust is blowing at the manifold somewhere so will have to look into that, aaaaaaaaand my posh headunit doesn't work anymore. On the upside, no breakdowns for over 13 weeks :genius:
