Who needs distributors anyway?

It runs, after hours and hours of wiring, and fault finding, wiring, grinding and welding it works :P

I will tomorrow, its a bit loud now, its running like crap though. Idles okish, but any load and it turns to run on 2 cylinders.

So will clean plugs and gap them. The wiring is good as it's been checked a millions times, I'll download a load of maps and try them all.

Turns out it was just knackered plugs, same plugs that messed up my 998.

So fitted the normal plugs back in (non resistive type) and it ran like a dream. Went on autosport labs and downloaded a couple of maps and its now running great. I could probably have played with it a bit more but I needed to get back to uni, and unfortunatly my laptop won't communicate with megajolt and only my mothers will, so will have to try and sort that out. But it idles great, and is much smoother, I just need to sort out a better carb and I should be all done with the N/A setup, ready to move on to the next stage of this engine :D

My friend took this video, but it's a bit rubbish. It's just me hooning around when I was messing around with the maps and 3 of us in the car. EDIT, downloaded it off facebook and will host it on my youtube so you can see it.
E46vRIRJddA

Ok edit again.....the process of downloading a phone video and uploading it again to youtube has compressed it to a lump of pixels barely watchable. I'll do my own one I think.

I'll try get some better footage if anyone is interested. Just on a side note, the solid engine steady is great, but it's GOT to go, it just transmits far too much noise into the cabin for my liking. Im going to mount it in the standard place for the gearbox steady and modify my standard steady and put that back on, I might try fabricate something to use on the thermostat side aswell, I hate the 'ultimate' engine steady type things. I'll get some pics of my megajolt install etc

Trackday on saturday :) ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :

Yeah I like megajolt. The knocking seems to have just stopped, which is nice.

Im not sure, it sounded like valve train issues, so could have been toming chain hitting the casing, or followers/cam bedding in. Not sure, but it seems ok now.

Had oil peeing out of the seal here, so sorted out with a new seal.

Had oil realy pouring out of the diff side cover, the gasket must have shifted or something, so bodged it with tonnes of sealant on the outside, oil on a track isn't looked to kindly upon you see.

Good job with the MJ dude, it seems to pull extremely well from the video.

I know when I did mine, the flat spot I had between 1500-2000 rpm has completely gone.

Track day was good fun. Until I drove a bit hard and my tyre fell off
:(

I'll upload a few vids when I edit them a bit.

how come your tyre fell off? Did you check the pressures cold, before you went out? I think ive been lucky so far, ive done a few trackdays, and the only majorish problem ive had is headgasket and a timing chain tensioner breaking up, and the usual brake fluid boiling problem, fixed by changing to racing brake fluid, never had a tyre pop off though, lol.

It was towards the end of the day, I knew if I went into the pits (open pit) that I wouldn't be able to get back out towards the end of the day, so I was out for 35 mins doing lap after lap, a mate watching said the tyre was getting looser and softer each time I came around, to me it just felt like the tyre was getting hot, so I didn't think too much of it. He couldn't get my attention so I just kept flying around, sideways into most corners as the tyres where pretty warm. Then it just fell off, thankfully on one of the smaller corners and I just went into the runoff area. Put on my spare and drove home.

It was great, I got some vids to put up but again they're not great as it's hard to mount the camera in my car. But im happy as I overtook quite a few cars.

I still need more power though. Unfortunatly, alot of people mentioned blue smoke on the overrun, so I've got a bit of blowby on the rings, so it doesn't look like it'll stand up too much turbo abuse. Unfortunatly this crankcase preasure blew out quite a bit of oil and I was constantly cleaning the engine bay as it blew it out of the breathers and any gaps and seals. A bit annoying, but I knew the bores whern't great.

Although I cannot recomend trackdays enough, and aslong as you take care of your car and dont thrash it for 35 mins without checking your tyre preasures, I cant think of a better way to enjoy it.

:D :w00t: :genius: :P

the blue smoke on the overrun could be and probably is worn valve guides / stem seals.

When do you never need more power, lol :)
