It's still doing it, the pot joint spins but the car doesnt move, im going to take it apart again and inspect the pot joint, I was a bit confused when I removed the old shaft and there appeared nothing wrong.

Splines on the shaft funked?
Checked and fine, got my mother to try it forward, and ther shaft isnt spinning at the wheel, the pot joint is.
Couldn't quite see if the shaft was spinning other side of the pot joint and my mother didn't want to do it anymore as it makes such a horrendous noise. ha ha
So im thinking the inside of the pot joint is funked and spinning around the shaft.
Well, I can't see what else it could be?
So no 1380 building for me this weekend Which is what I came home to do, not mess around underneath the car.

Never heard of it doing this before though. Normally driveshaft snaps near the retaining ring or the diff pin goes?

*Maybe* diff pin?. But it woudn't make sense if the actual pot joint was spinning and the driveshaft wasn't. Strip it down and have a proper look me thinks.

You can understand why im confused, and it bangs instead of grinds, like bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang realy quickly, like the balls are skipping past the dips in the pot joint.

the pot joint spins but the car doesnt move
the shaft isnt spinning at the wheel, the pot joint is.
From what your saying it cant be the diff...
If the pot joint is spinning but the driveshaft isnt spinning, all it can be is either the cv, the splines have been ripped off or the pot has worn out.
Now as you have changed the shafts/cv already all it can be is a worn pot...
Personally iv never heard of this happening, but obviously it could.

I know, it's driving me insane!
The pot joint is fine inside though, I'll tear it apart tomorrow and have a proper look at it all with my old man as I think I'll smash it apart if I can't sort it.
Thinking of selling up. realy can't afford this at the moment.
