Then new flywheel assembly and a drop gear housing.
That will then rule out any of the knocking noises.
266 cam is on it's way to me hopefully tomorrow.
Then it will be dropping the compression ratio with larger chambers. Port the head more.
Slap on the turbo and associated ancilaries and off we go.

New hubs being rebuilt, hopefully no more re-doing balljoints every 6 months.

I want to use K series metro hubs on my frame.

And I usualy do balljoints 6 months and wheel bearings often and im sick of doing them.
So these may be expensive to rebuild the hubs, but im using high quality parts so hopefully not have to do it again for a few years.
I think just rebuilding the hubs is costing me nearly 80 quid.
Should get the car sitting on them tomorrow evening.
I've got a new dizzy on it's way to me aswell for some boost.
Although going off the idea of boosted a-series now, but not off the idea of boost

The kit ready to go on.
Spent 20 mins trying to fit this hub. Look at the shanks and threads on the balljoints
Correct thread and shank.
The offending shank.
This one was on the same hub and kinda fitted, but would quite not fit all of the way through the arm, was good enough though.
So car is now sitting like this until I can go down the motor factors on monday and get the proper ball joints. So 2 balljoints were right, and 2 were wrong and 3 different types. Annoying.
Annoyingly all the balljoints look the same at first glance, and all the boxes were excactly the same.

im assuming u asked for mini ball joints and not metro ones yeah?and u gotta put the mini steering arms on the metro hubs if i remember right? Dean
You fit the early metro ball joints as they share the same shank as the mini arms, the joints fit to the hubs completly diferently. 2 of the joints are correct, 2 are wrong.
I will swap over the steering arms, I forgot about that, cheers.
I will get the joints swapped over, change the steering arms and get it sorted. Just another annoyance.

didnt know u could use early metro ball joints, ive always fitted mini joints to metro hubs.i would check with someone first just in case im right, theres always a chance lol Dean
The mini hubs and metro hubs are very different. The metro balljoint is one unit and bolts unto the hubs, where and the mini balljoint is in a few pieces, with the shims etc.
This is a metro balljoint, as you can see it screws into the hub, where as a mini balljoint cup screws over the mini hub.
So no way a mini joint will fit a metro hub. But there are a few different shank sizes for the metro arms, and only 1 is the same as the mini. It appears I've got a mix. The metro balljoint unit is stronger and last longer, it's also a lot easier to replace as you don't have to mess around with shims etc. Much better system than the mini one, I can't get my head around why Austin/Rover didn't convert to the metro setup as it's a lot simpler.
