SO had to weld it up yesterday. Then was all ready for another MOT today, I got to the junction opposite the garage and it cut out. Resarted fine but wouldn't tick over. So he couldn't do the MOT. Drove it home and it's fine again. So I have no idea what's up with it.

Removing that sound deadening removes A LOT of weight!

Maybe its scared of MOT's
Removing that sound deadening removes A LOT of weight!
Yeah it does. Also reveals a 2 inch hole in the floor
I've still got to do the floor in the back, but I think I'll concentrate on the MOT before any more weight loss.

Yeah good luck with the MOT Ben . Maybe it was just a bit of crap in the fuel line?
Could be. Need to fit a fuel filer somewhere.
Just gave it a wash, had a quiet word with it, and should hopefully be prepared for the next one.

Just spent the last 3 days (All be it on and off ) reading this thread, well done for sticking at it.

Sorry, what link?
Yeah I can't remember the name of the company I got the radius arm from. There was a thread on here about it a while ago.
Cheers mate. Not alot left to collect for the turbo conversion now.

Don't know what im doing about the exhaust yet, I've got a downpipe that I can modify to fit, but I think im going to do something a bit custom to reduce back preassure but still keep it subtle.

Bought a few fittings to put my TIM oil pressure gauge back in as that cheap chinease gauge never gave a consitant reading.
At tick over I have 60 psi of oil pressure, and at 4k rpm I have 70 psi.
This is when the engine is at 72 degrees. So the pressure may drop a little as it warms up a little more, but im more than happy with that.
Not bad for an engine I put together for a couple of hundred quid in my shed.

First, heres a couple of pictures of the oil pressure gauge.
Oil fittings. Been waiting weeks for these bit's to arrive, I ordered these in january.
Here I have a 900 RPM idle on cold with a 286 cam Oh and check out that oil pressure!
My heater as been leaking for a couple of months, and has been blowing out steam the last couple of drives, which was not ideal for de-misting.
Found it was leaking between the hose plate and the matrix, took it apart and there was no gasket, so made one and now it doesn't leak. Don't know why there wasn't one in there before, but now seems ok.
Probably should have cleaned up the heater unit before putting it back in the car, oh well.
A friend of mine recently sold his mini, so gave me all of his un-used bits. I've got a set of white cooper wing mirrors, so will screw those on as my mirrors don't have a very good finish. I also have one of those big rally lamp pods, needs a bit of tidying up and some paint, but might use that if I can get some lights for it.
I have a list as long as my arm for things I want to do to the car.
Although my next upgrade will be to megajolt, i've done loads of research into it and it doesn't look that scary, just expensive and it means not having to source a metty turbo dizzy and then having it re-tuned for my spec.
Then it will be a transmission upgrade. Then the work needed to turbo the car, only need a fuel pressure regulator and bulkhead box now to complete the turbo parts collection.
MOT sometime this week hopefully.
Cheers
Ben

I had a feeling it was burning oil, so took a video of the exhaust just to have a look. Well it wasn't/
Sorry about the first 20 seconds being a waste of time.

Hoping to slam it again soon and fit perspex in the windows, I quite like the look of smoked perspex.
Also considering painting the wheel centres.
Also quite like the idea of twin exhausts, although the battery box would need to be taken care of.

I'm not sure i like the darker wheels but then the lighter ones already on might not go with the smoked windows. Maybe do the windows first then the wheels to see what it looks like? Megajolt sounds like a good idea, which i'm also interested in for next year. Might make the MOT easier aswell with the spot on timing. Not so sure on the twin exhaust but think i'd need to see it properly to say yay or nay.
Yeah, I think my current distributor has something wrong with it, doesn't seem very reliable spark at idle
Not sure with those photoshops, just playing realy. I've even downloaded the Mapping software for megajolt on my laptop to have a play with and see how easy it is to use.
