Just a quick photoshop, seeing if my white details would look better in another colour. But I think they'll go white.

Did some worthwhile work on the mini today.

Removed the thermostat with holes in. Tested a load of other thermostats which didn't realy open properly, and the only one which operated properly was the one with holes in. So riveted them closed leaving one as a bypass.

It still didn't realy get up to temp, so took it back out and riveted the last hole shut. It now runs at aroun 75 degrees which will do for me.

Cleaned my ignition leads as mine were stinking and it started to splutter when I flew through a flood earlier.

Snowy mini :)

Clean plug leads, drove into a flood at around 40 and not even a splutter. Banging.

Now I might go reset the plug gaps to help it starting or paint my minilites.

Oh oh I fixed the electrical problem! Cleaned the alternator terminals and it works!! no more dim glowing charge lights. Yippeeeeeee

Mine goes through my inlet manifold, and the heater still works as it did before plumbing it, so no change. also noticed the engine runs better with it plumbed in. (i ran it unplumbed for a bit after fitting the stage one).

your cars looking allot better than when i last saw it ben, keep it up :)

Do you mean your valve is bolted to the head like on all pre 1988 mini's? If so i will get a picture of my setup for you.

You could go the other way, im assuming you have the small valve.

I removed the valve and just fitted a cylinder head take off, like this:

You could then run the pipe down the o/s of the engine into the manifold then out of the other side into the cabin.

I used to run a single piece of rubber hose from my take off like above but that always rubbed against the bonnet and wasn't very neat. The solid pipes on my car are off cuts of copper pipe after a bit of plumbing done in the house. I then primed and sprayed them, with a bit more time, I would have made it one piece.

That's my point of removing the valve and just having the take off.

I never used the valve anyway, only reason I ever turned the heater on was for warm air, why would I want it to blow cold?

SO removed the valve so that hot water would always pass through the manifold. This meant, that I turn the switch for the heater and hot air would come out.

I did have the valve at one point and the heated manifold and that meant that when set to cold the car did not run as smoothly as it did when the manifold was hot as the car had been tuned with the manfoild hot.
