Sounds like its time for some custom fabrication eh ben? :xmas: Can anyone say DRAINPIPE =]

Lol, would consider it right now. Completly skint atm.

Is that what you need mate?

Nope, thanks for looking though, but its a maniflow system which is a different shape to the rc40 setup. I had a twin box, but with the maniflow the link pipe houses the first small silencer(doesn't do alot) and then had a bend in it too then meet up with the back box.

Ah okay mate. No bother. Have you got in touch with maniflow? I'd imagine they'ed send you one out straight away.

Just read this from start to finish the last few days.

Sounds like you've had a lot of bad luck, but when the Mini is looking tidy it looks great!

White arches grew on me as I came through. I'm going more retro with mine, with blue arches, but with a white roof, mirrors, and stripes. Seems to suite the colour a bit better.

Anyway, I've just bought mine a week ago, won't run, i'm a total noob, and everyone I know who know's Mini's (fortunately I know a few) has been busy, it's in a workshop 7 miles away, and I havn't seen my baby since I bought it! :( - Wish I had the guts to just go and work on it and learn by trying as you seem to do!

Bet yours flys! I hope mine with it's 1275 transplant is half as quick! Not too shabby for a first car though IMO, a little 1.3 go-kart! I love it - can't wait until I can drive it! :)

Well done on the tidy, and very fast work! I'll be following this! I know too well what it's like having no money mate, and I hope you get it all sorted out soon :)

Cheers,

Matt

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I've left a message so hopefully they'll get back to me. Looks like im going to have to blag lifts off people, and get on the big peasant wagon. I hate busses.

Thanks baines, have you setup a project page?

Yeah I have mate. Not a complete nut and bolt rebuild or anything, but with Mini's you don't know what you'll come across under the carpet etc!

So yeah, for now, just getting it how I want, and running well, so i'll be documenting it all in there, and anything bad I come across, but fingers crossed it's a good solid one.

See the link in my sig :( - Not started working on it yet though - everyone is busy! :)

FP001 SIDE EXIT FRONT PIPE £21.03

Somerford Mini's stock just the centre pipe. >_<

It's a 45 minute drive from here, so will try get my housemate to drive me up there sometime in the week. I will ring tomorrow to see if they have it in stock.
It's just the single pipe without the slincer, so I will now have a single box system. Which im actualy happy about as I've been thinking it's a bit quiet recently. >_<

Going to try and fit it tomorrow, and sort out the engine mounts so hopefully it won't fall off again.

Nice! Good to see you're sticking with it too! :D It'll be a lot louder without the center silencer!

Poly engine mounts? yeah.

It's poly mounted, ultimate engine steady is poly bushed, standard steady is polybushed one end and new bushes the other. I will connect up the front gearbox mount tomorrow if I can find a long enough bolt, and then just do a nut check on everything to make sure it's all tight.

I don't think it will be toooo much louder, the centre box didn't do alot, i ran it without the backbox a couple of times and it made pretty much the same noise as with the centre pipe off.

If it's all pretty much poly mounted, it makes me wonder why the exhaust fell of in the first place? Were the bolts loose on any of the mounts? Or is this what this week's investigation is going to find out?

Pretty much, I suspect a loose engine steady somwhere, it did seem to move about a bit. The exhaust joint was never the best and was blowing. Will try put it together better. The exhaust clamp was done up very tight, I couldn't pull it off the y piece.

Will investigate tomorrow.

Got the new pipe fitted ;)

Doesn't fit very well into the y piece, ive got a feeling the y piece isn't great.

But it sounds loverrrrrrly!!!

It crackels and pops on the overrun, although i havn't driven it yet as ive got to sort out the engine movement and the manifold bolts have come undone again!! :xxx:

So will tighten that lot up tomorrow and shud be fine again. :D :( :(
