Ok I'll do it tomorrow, it's a bit of a pain to do though, and very scary drilling into lovely paintwork.

yeh i can imagine also haveing to make it all line up
when i do it i will also higher it at the back
I tried this, I just wound up the pins a little, but im still using the standard front catch, and with the back lifted I couldn't undo the catch, I had too realy pull hard to open it again. Also once I had done it I decided it looked poop, so I wound it back down.

I went to mini in the bay yesterday and felt ashamed of my engine bay, so thought I would try to tidy it a bit. I was tidying wiring but got bored after around 2 minutes, so i've just put on a big sticker and painted some bits.

Just a random pic from the run.

Ok nothing big to report, it's still pooring out oil, so I'll need to pull the engine as soon as possible and re-do all the gaskets on the gearbox.

Comes out of bell housing seal, diff, everywhere. The gearbox change a few weeks back was rushed so much I didn't prepare the mating surface properly.
Ordered a new gasket set, I think im going to sort it out this weekend.
SLyrmini yeah was a good day out I reackon. Didn't see your mini there.

Im comletly skint, and can't for the life of me get a job this summer.
I spent the last of my money getting my 1380 pistons put onto my new rods.
I have absolutly everything now to build this engine, accept, while packaging up a my pistons, a ring snapped and I can't afford to buy a whole new set.
SO does anyone have a spare powermax 73.5 compression ring anywhere?
Im completly desperate.
If not can some people please buy some parts off me so I can finish building my 1380. I have:

Ive got my rods back from the machine shop with the powermax pistons attatched. They came back a little stiff but I think this was because they were dry, so gave them an oil bath.

I will be buying a new piston ring off the member Tomf. He is very good as he supplied my last rings that snapped. Never got the ring off Mini_kel and he won't give me back my money so not happy about that at all. Sooo it's now all systems go. Ive got my metty turbo box in bits too inspect, ive got another box lying around so may use that and pop on the metty turbo crown wheel with the hardened diff pin I didn't get too use last gearbox change.
Then as soon as 1380 is fitted I should get my sub 10 second 0-60 im after. Im also selling the current 1275 as soon as the 1380 is fitted.
Ive got some new rubber doughnuts coming, so will fit them with my front hi los and my adjustable bottom arms that I've had for months and never fitted. I use my phone to take pictures and that's in for repair at the moment so won't be pictures for another week or so.

On another note I went on run with the local clubs. Above 65 ish the oil leaks get stupid and pi$$ oil all over the exhaust and I leave a huge cloud of smoke behind me. Then the clutch started slipping in 4th, and now it's done it a few times in 3rd. Soooo im going to order a metro turbo uprated clutch plate, for the 1380 and hopefully it should hold. And the tracking is soooo far out after changing the track rod end a few days ago the car actualy tyre squeels on flat fresh tarmac in a straight line.
