Did the same on my astra 4 years ago. On the plus side I expect one of your cylinders will be nice and clean.

Swapped the gasket and its been ok since.

It's still running ok-ish. So I suspect a new gasket and its probably ok.

Alllthhhoooouuughghgghhgh.

I may have a DTA ecu on the way to me, so If I can get hold of some bottle throddies I could drop the z18 in.

That's be nice.

Just put wood on the scales? then weigh the wood. Doesn't weight more than a person :)

Those boradway mirrors are so good on track days. They are also hugley helpful when driving abroad as well.

The scales are at my mothers, she'd freak. I may have some more somewhere, I'll check. Still don't know why you need me to weigh one though.

This car hasn't gone 5 miles outside my town since I've done the conversion. Abroad doesn't really come into it. Unless you count England.

Vanity.

A little while ago, I stuck a new alternator belt on the car after it threw it off on the trackday. I then started to make progress on making it more useable and stated to fit an interior.

Took it for a spin to get a before reading of decibels before I fitted all my sound proofing. It overheated, and puffs of blue smoke occasionally appeared behind me.
When i got it back I checked the coolant and it was bone dry. no idea why. There was no evidence of any leaks anywhere and the engine hadn't appeard to have burnt any.

Anyway, did a compression test and 1 and 2 were down on compression. Took the head off, and the gasket appeared to be ok, but had the head skimmed and bolted it back on with a new gasket and bolts today. Done another compression test and again. Cylinders 1 and 2 are still down on compression.

Don't know what to do now, got a feeling the engine could be dead now.

I've got a DTA ecu here, and a Z18xe engine sitting in my shed. So may give up on the e16se and drop the z18xe in. Just need an inlet system, (Jenveys on manifold or similar) and an exhaust manifold. Or I could turn my botched up manifold I was going to put bike carbs on and try make a log manifold?

Bolted it back together after loads of issues and the most expensive o-rings i've ever seen and its running ok. Will test drive on the weekend.

Might go rrg in it. No idea what issues were, but with a skimmed head and new gasket its running again. It was still down on compresion when i tested it. But its still running fine.

Its got vaccuum leaks everywhere, i fitted a water temp gauge on the back of the engine, when thats reading around 90 degress, the gauge i had before still isn't moving off the stop. Sooooooooo it was probably running pretty hot before.

O rings were injector seals, bought from vauxhall. Bare money.
