This broke about 3 months ago and I never got round to fixing it, made the exhaust knock, engine hit things, and almost impossible to get 2nd and 5th gear. So fixed that, and now its sooooo much better.

So tore this terrible mess of a thing out.

Made this.

Welded this in, will repaint my floor soon. And bolted in a Corsa C gear selector, the selector rod is now completely straight. Its soooooooooo much better. The gearstick falls right to hand sitting around 6 inches further back than before, its alot tighter and more accurate. Wish i'd done this 6 months ago. I've often gone from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th and put massive revs on the engine, so now I can't get over how good it is!! The rose joints I put in the linkage earlier are now showing their use.

I highly recommend vauxhall conversions to use the later low mileage gear selector and rose joints.

Also made a new exhaust mount for the new beam, so that doesn't rattle like it used to.
It's had two new tyres on it and i fitted some longer studs to the rear hubs, so now I'm alot more confident throwing it around, and everything is just better!!!!

I've got to adjust my seats tomorrow as they're currently upright and not very comfortable. Might even fit my carpet set and front section of my rollcage tomorrow. All ready for its first trackday on saturday.

Not perfect by any chance, I'm surprised how good the pics make the paint look. Still got lots to do.

Prolly the new one, but i'm not sure. May have something else by then. This one has never been out of the Bridgend area since it hit the road in may!

Killed it :(

While I was about to fit the interior and sound proofing i wanted a before and after so got a decibel meter on my phone and went for a drive.

It started running a bit weird, was really hard to start and the cabin started filling with smoke, and I noticed the exhaust kept coughing out blue smoke.

Got home and noticed there was no coolant in it!! No idea where it went, there were no stains on the drive or garage. So no idea. what happened.

Anyway I've got a feeling its done the head gasket to an oilway, I started it with the oil cap off and there was aaaaalot of pressure behind it.

So I'll get the compression tester on it this week some time, and see whats what.

My interior fills up with water because my fibrglass skins are about as strong as paper, so the window seal didnt even meet the window. So I put a screw through the skin into the window to hold it closer.

Did the same on my astra 4 years ago. On the plus side I expect one of your cylinders will be nice and clean.

Swapped the gasket and its been ok since.
