Got any pics of how you fitted the aero catches like that? Not seen them fitted there before.

They do have a slot in the side for the pins to fit through as well

Sorry forgot to get a pic. Basicly there is a small bracket welded to the inside of the a-panel which has the pin running into the side of aero catch.

Tore the caliper thats been given me grief, took it apart, cleaned it. Blew it out with compressed air, worked the pistons in and out a bunch of times and it now moves freely where as before it was so stiff it was almost locked. Will re-attach tomorrow and see if the brakes work. Really hoped i'd get more done on my week off though. Insurance started on the first of may.

Going to need some bigger arches.

Painted my window lip, will chuck my windows in to get it on the road, then paint it properly later.

Bolted the battery down in the back.

And cut the door skin to accept the handle on the drivers side as the fibreglass skins dont come with any holes. Lost the circlips to hold the locks together.

New windscreen arrived from mini spares.

Both fitted with new rubbbers.

Got the rear engine mount from allspeed and got it fitted, however, as I shimmed up the rear of the engine up to try and clear the master cylinder, it wouldnt fit the rear mount brackets. So fitted one of the land rover mounts I had from earlier in the build. Which works just right and keeps the inlet manifold from the masters. I got someone to sit in the car and bring the clutch up to the bite quite hard and the engine doesnt seem to catch them. It is very close though.

Need some wider arches and a tyre and I've got most of the bits to make it legal.

Shorter studs fitted as mine were getting thread bound before catching the wheels.
These ones may actually be a little short.

i've been flat out on this recently, not taken many pics as i've just been trying to get it done. What pics i've got i've put here.

Used belts to hold down bonnet at front.

983A535B-A515-45EB-910D-60E04FCDCD38_zps

Took it for MOT and it passed!!!!!!! few advisories i need to sort out and defiantly only just legal.

983A535B-A515-45EB-910D-60E04FCDCD38_zps

It blew off a coolant hose.

E44BF2EA-0FF3-4B5A-B700-FFB4F9EB522C_zps

And drove it back.

77A55FF0-6BD0-476D-ADF4-5BE828E68EEB_zps

Took it out again wednesday and it blew its water out of the expansion tank.

0D0BA3FA-82F2-4B7A-A2F1-8097426B8FF6_zps

Needs paint :(

Still finding loads of issues.

Gear linkage being one of them. Struggling to find all of the gears. and in a horrible position

Rear arms bottoming out.

Hideous traction issues.

Needs a dashboard

Needs paint

Need wider arches

need a longer gearbox ratio

Adjust seats

Exhaust rattles

Locks don't seem to work reliably

re-attach washer jets ( they fell out)

Work out how to bleed coolant system better.

But it goes like hell to around 70mph.
best 0-60 time i've had so far is 6.9 seconds but it wheel spins to the end of second gear.

Will have it out to play on the weekend and get some vids of it driving.

Spinning one wheel, or both?

If it's just one, some of this can be adjusted out using the hilos.

Spins both, or whichever one has the least grip. Doesn't seem to favour one in particular. Theres quite a bit that needs sorting before I make any judgments on how it drives or handles yet.

Absolutely amazing.
I have just read your whole thread from start to finish and am jealous of your skill and dedication!
I now want to convert mine to something more powerful!

Thanks.

Yeah, the a-series is all well and good, but if you're looking for a faster mini with still some reliablity and not break the bank. A conversion in my eyes is the way to go.

Especially this one using the allspeed frame. Engine just bolts in and only a couple of wires to make it work.

I need quite a few bits to get the mini finished, and at present cannot afford to do this. Sooooooooo I'm bodging stuff to make it useable. Firstly I needed it to not rust.

Ran out of masking tape to finish the front.

This should make it waterproof so I can still use it while I finish other bits.
