Might not seem like much, but smaller parts being painted means big things and that re-assembly will start soon!!!

Looking good. I've got boxes of bits here that I have got to strip and reprint to get ready to go on mine.

Yeah went off the gun metal idea. I loved the colour it was, so going back on!

Started cleaning all the grot and rust off the floor.

Had to get loads of thick bitumen off the bulkhead which I added a few years ago in a bid to quieten it down inside. This has taken about 5 full days to remove.

Posted Image

Started painting it inside.

I used a heat gun and scraper, then a rag and thinners and then a wire brush on a grinder to finish it off.

Finished painting the inside, everything not painted black will be body colour.

Rear end all done, refurbished rear arms, brakes, coilovers on. Rear valance on, new brake lines made and fitted. And carbon floor in. And you can see I've made a start with the fuel lines.

null_zps201a7031.jpg

All sorted ready to take the engine.

Found one of my hubs had a crack in it, so sourced a new one, fitted new bearings, ball joints etc and rolled the car out......also pulled a face.

null_zps4eeedb04.jpg

Bolted my sidemounts to the floor, but there seems to be a bit of flex when wobbling the seat, might weld some thin box section to the floor to stiffen it up.

null_zps78c7a141.jpg

Cleaned up my gearbox and fitted it with my lightened fly and organic competition clutch in between.

Getting closer now.

I've got a megasquirt ECU which I plan on using, anyone have any experience with the vaux coilpack? Mine has five wires coming from it, and am used to having 3.

Have been fiddling recently, but hardly done anything.

I've been messing with the megasquirt ecu and decided too sell it, and use the money too buy a 1.6 8v engine too just chuck in standard too get the car on the road. I'm sick of it being in the garage. My thinking is, I don't know enough about megasquirt and my current z18xe engine. So will chuck in a more basic engine, do the basic wiring and get the car running. I have alot of parts from my mates mini "Vini" so hopefully once I get an engine it may go quite quickly.

I'm waiting to hear back about a new engine to drop in. But will get my clutch plumbing done next time i'm up there. And maybe start some wiring.

I've my clutch lines, so once the engine runs the car should be able to drive!

So now all the steering, clutch, suspension, brakes, gear linkage, seats are all done and mounted. I just need it to run.

RE-did my gear linkage as the one I was using was a bit worn on the ball..null_zpsf6cf0d19.jpg

Then modified my handbrake for clearnace as it hit my gear selector, theres a pic of the button touching the selector somewhere in this thread.

So I undid the front bolt, bent it all back and welded in the mounting hole a bit higher up.

null_zps8f826a0e.jpg

Needs too be ground back a bit, but thats its resting position, nice and accessible when the seats are in :)

null_zps0dcdcb70.jpg

I went to go buy an e16se engine, loom, ecu etc as a package to drop in. However when I got there the guy told me he hadn't taken it out of the yet, idiot! So had a good look over it and it seemed fine, so hopefully he'll take that out and I'll have that off him and get it running.

Bought this.

Pulled out my z18xe, swapped over the lightweight flywheel, uprated clutch and f17 gearbox onto the e16se.

z18xe fould the frame, nice neat 8v engine is narrow and fits :)

null_zpsbc04957b.jpg

Oil pressure sender seems to foul on frame though.

null_zpsac111348.jpg

Plugged the engine in, and pulled out the wires I need too wire into the mini. Yes, thats 4 wires to make it run....i hope.

Like it was meant to be there.

Hopefully I can make an exhaust next weekend, connect up a few wires and hope for a fire.
