Stripped the head ready for some porting work, but someone beat me too it, the ports are alot better than I thought they were. A bit annoying as I was hoping to get more power our of it. So I'll work the exhaust ports a bit, and carry on modifying my manifold, but the compressor im using isn't big enough, so its a bit annoying waiting for it to fill up all the time.



There's room for improvment in there.

So with the ported inlet, bigger carb and better air filter, it might have a bit more go in it.

Well it's all back together. No pics as you all know what it looks like. It just has a brand new ram-air filter on the back of the hif44.


Filled the float with fuel and it burst into life. I forgot how good the 44 and foam filter sounds compared to the baby 38. I've just got to sort out some better return spring(s) for it and I'll take it out for a spin. Run it for a couple of days, and sort it out with a new gearbox

Some of the hills on the way are a bit killer, so with a fully loaded car I might be struggling.

Metro turbo carb fitted, swapped the throttle cam to the other side, and fitted an N/A damper/dashpot because I don't have a turbo one. And boom, it's alive and revving like a good'un!!

Couldn't rotate the video as I uploaded it straight from my phone.................but you get the idea that she's working again.

Took it our for a spin, and it torque steers all over the place and goes like hell!!

I might put my knife edged butterfly and shaft in it, but will probably leave it as it's working for now. So will just fit a new box, which I'll put together tonight, and fit in the next couple of days. This has to all be done by next Tuesday, as Wednesday is when i leave for riv run!!!

Im at my parents house in wales at the moment, but live in Bath, so, I'm going back there on Wednesday to meet up with a few people who are doing riv, my house will be like a halfway house for people coming from the more nothern parts of the country, and then convoying down on friday the 29th.

MOT is up and so I started prepping it, and found rust.
Time is even shorter now!!!


I've also completely dismantled my head unit in an effort to try and find the fault.
Put some bitchumin on the bulkhead to try quieten it down.

I would tend to agree. I think it looked better with the checks on.

I am enjoying that air filter though. Looks loooovly!
