But the problems i have been having are mainly due to not being able to get the engine to stay still.

I'm sure all on here have had their fair share of problems and those who haven't, well, it seems as if you've had their problems for them.
The way you don't give up is impressive and the number of times you've had the engine(s) out is maniacal. My hat's off to you sir.

It hasn't broken down since I drove home for christmas last year, and that was just a pipe falling off. I've got a counter on my phone from the last time it didn't get me home. Jeese everyone tucking into me because my car breaks down, but touch wood, its been as good as gold this year, just issues getting the sodding 1380 engine to stay still!
I probably make it sound worse than it is, for instance it did 50 miles today, in and around Bath, which is stuck in traffic, blasting down dual carridgeways etc.
It's just loud as hell with each and every gasket leaking, and having to use the clutch when getting on or off the throttle is annoying. I'm going to have to fabricate some sort of top engine steady for the thermostat side because it's getting irritating having the engine try and escape from the car.
Apparently with the megajolt i connected something wrong to the megajolt controller, but hats off to them they said they'd fix it for free. I just have no idea of what wires go where to get the limiter working.
I always think of getting rid of the mini by the way. I'm constantly getting insurance quotes for new cars. Especialy mk2 golf gti's. Actually rang someone up about one the other day, but it had sold. But on a day like today, blasting through the centre of town, with the sun shining and my car singing, I know i'd miss it.

The price of insurance on anything other than the mini is enough encouragement to get it fixed.
