Cptkirk, just read through this all and I'm in awe as I'm sure everyone else is!! I really like the way the steering rack comes toward you in a much flatter position than normal. as I've read it is just a basic rack from z cars, do you think it is possible to fit into a normal mini say with a modified drop bracket to attach it to? again absolutely loving your build, a car of my dreams you've built!!

joe

Thanks.

I think there's a couple of things you need to consider, my seat is quite a bit lower and further back than a standard seating position. I am aware of drop links that are available at good mini parts places but I couldn't tell you how much they are......

I am sure that with a bit of thought and ingenuity you can achieve a similar steering wheel position.

yh i my seat will be going further back anyway as I'm planning on putting in a floor mounted pedal box and using a summit raptor to move most of the normally reachable buttons to the wheel. i thought about asking if z cars could fabricate a roll cage which has the same column mounting as yours does??

I am sure if you ask Z's can do it.

Personally I wouldn't go for a floor mounted pedal box, there's simply not enough room on the floor to do it, without sitting in the back seats to operate them. Go for a top mount system, it will work out for the best.

Good luck with your project.

seems like those guys will take anything on if asked :P

okay ill put some more thought into it, I've seen a few floor mounted minis and they work awesome, only time will tell if I'm daring enough to put in the time and effort for it.

will you be at santa pod this weekend by any chance??

I attended a track day at Goodwood on Monday with the Lotus on track boys. It was wet and horrible, R888's not great in the wet. The day semi dried later on and I got a few half decent laps in, no PB's broken but was on track for a decent lap on vid 039 but slowed due to seeing engine coolant at 104deg C and Oil at 125deg C, so more work for me over the winter to get air flowing better to the engine coolant rad, the I/C rad is being a bit too much of a block out, the top 3-4 inches of the rad aren't doing anything currently, so going to sort that and scoop from below also.

Here's the vids:

Shame about the weather, never a dull moment with a zcar mini.As we all know you like a challenge so it's going to be super cooling winter for you then.
Nice video, Don

Ha ha, cool, I looked on the GTR website to see if anything had been posted. If thats the misses car what are you running around in?? If you were W.O.T. I think that was a very evenly matched pair of cars, I don't think I could've pulled past.

I am local to Chi, maybe see you around again??

Very nice! its a gts-t made to look like a gtr allot of people turn their nose up at them but they are actually pretty fast and a fair bit lighter than a gtr it's not been on the dyno but stage 1 mod's still on the stock turbo but intercooler, exhaust, boost controller .

I am up for that pm'd you back :proud:

EXTRA AIR FOR THE RADIATOR.

At the end of last year I was still struggling with high water temps on track and decided to add some extra ducting to the top of the radiator.

Pre intercooling the car the whole of the radiator saw fresh air but since the intercooler rad has been in place it cuts off a good 4" from the top, basically everything behind the carbon cover you can see in the photo below.

So the plan is to get some cheeky ducts 3D printed and attached the the front of the carbon cover and then feed some fresh air from the front of the car somewhere - still working on that as trying to be as discreet as possible with it, trying the keep the front lookin fairly standard so as to jinx people into thinking its just a normal mini behind.

So here is the area in question:

Here is a a handful of renders showing the proposed duct fixings that are going to be made this week. Note that I only modeled the essential bit required to ensure nothing was hitting around that area.

A horizontal section through the ducts, air should fill the cavity nicely

That looks awesome!  Can't wait to see the finished product.  Thats a head scratcher for where to route feeding hoses...

I'd feed them from the sides of the IC.

Great job Andy as usual.

I think you might be on to something, looks like I'll have to cut metal to make a feed for the drivers side but can most probably get another couple of 3D printed bits made to suit (3D Printing is much cheaper than it once was). I will get the thinking cap on.

Hi Luigi

I am using Zcars rear arches, given the chance again I'd have gone for extra wide Miglia carbon arches. I am running 225/45 R13 R888's on the rear.
