Threads like yours make me glad I'm fluent in AutoCad :(.

Also, what's the cap for in the center cover? (Clutch or brake fluid access?)

Having CAD skills definitely helps, especially when getting stufff laser cut, just hand them a dxf file of the outline and your done.

The cap in the centre plate is for the washer fluid, I will post some pictures of the rear when I get it back from being sprayed, it'll make more sense then.

Just read your project from the start, looking amazing!!!!!

Thank you.

I managed to take a couple of snaps before it went off to spray last night. The tank is self explanitory and the upstand is to fix the washer fluid pump to. The last two pictures are just showing the plate, filled and ready to go to be sprayed (the welding tends to warp the metal a little, hence why it needs filling pre-spray).

I am off up to Gallows Farm in the morning, to swap my master cylinders over, only a 600mile round trip. Fortunately my folks live up that way so two birds with one stone.

I picked up my replacement master cylinders on Saturday morning, thanks Chris.

I have gone from 0.625 to 0.75, the smaller cylinders just didnt have the capacity to work the calipers properly.

I will be reinstating the master cylinders into the pedal box and then the whole pedal box back into the car tonight. I managed to save alot of the silicone brake fluid when removing the pedal box, that stuff aint cheap so as much as I can get back in the better.

Hopefully will have some pictures to follow soon.

Brakes are all back in, bled and the pedal feel is so much better than before, I did a few short runs (20m runs) and it feels better, I jsut need some more room now to have a blat around and get them bedded in before I can make an informed report on the true braking perfomance.

Next big thing to go in is the carpets, just waiting on some samples coming through, I have all of April to fit them as I dont get my towbar fitted to my new (secondhand) van until early May, then it should be off to get the doors hung.

Hi mate.

Where did you get the carbon dashboard?
May i ask how much does it cost?

Cheers,

Andrea

P.S. Which tools do you use to cut the aluminium sheets?

I got the Carbon Dash from Zcars, I am afraid that I cant remember how much it was (it has been two years since I paid for it), when I get a chance I will dig out my invoice and let you know.

Aluminium fabricating was done with basic power tools (jigsaw, 4" grinder, drill), also basic handtools (hacksaw, files and sandpaper. A bending machine would have been really useful but a vice, a flat thick piece of mild steel bar (50 wide x10 thick, however long you need it) and a hammer can do the job, it just doesnt look as good. Whenever I knew the piece was on show I would get it bent properly.

Have you ever thought about installing a water/meth injection kit to cool your intake down?
That would be a good alternative to an Intercooler/Chargecooler.
(you can even use 100% water or denatured alcohol/water mix instead of the commonly used water/meth blend)

Thanks.

L2B, cant confirm that I will make that as I have a lot to do between now and then, most of which I cant get done until the start of May. Lets wait and see on that one....

It is a route I have looked at although the benefits of a water to air intercooler sandwich plate appear greater than water/meth on their own. Combine the two with the water/meth spraying pre supercharger and intercooled and you have about the best charge cooling you can get. These are all things that may get added in the future, although I think I will settle for the HP that I have right now.

My tuner just posted this video of his tuning handywork on another site. This is what an Intercooled JRSC'd K20A2 lump can do in a Lotus Exige, note the GT40 is running in excess of 700HP - Cant wait to get mine intercooled.........

My Run of Bad Luck Continues...........

I guess i should have known that things were going too smoothly.

Jackson Racings Metalurgical dept has another fail on its hands, it happened last night when running the car up to temp, just to give the battery a bit of a charge as it been sitting there a while and I have been fiddling with the electrics.

Whilst it was ticking over I heard a noise like I had left a tool on the engine and it had dropped onto the floor, I looked underneath to find the serpentine belt on the floor and the pulley was in the engine bay. At first I thought the nut had come loose but the input shaft had clean snapped off - feck it - another set back (not of my making). Oh well, been so many I will just add it to the list.

I am having it fixed free of charge as the charger hasnt done any miles, turns out there was a small batch of chargers produced a couple of years ago that had this problem, just goes to show how long this has taken. It hasnt shaken my belief in the JRSC as I know how many of them out there and this is not the norm.

In the meantime I will be templating my carpets and sending off the .dxf file for them to be CNC cut and then edged, where necessary.

Here are a couple of pictures of the failed unit
