When this is finally finished I wont have any money left for beers n burgers, it'll all be spent on fuel.

Hold on - dont you have Rotrex and NO2? yer me thinks that wouldn't really be fair race.

Scoop Plates:

I got my scoop plates back today after they have been sprayed to match the car, I have to say that they do look good, yer I know I am biased, but seriously - they look good.

A few photos to go with, the first couple are the drilling template in place (6mm mild steel - that drill aint wandering nowhere), one of the holes drilled pre the scoop fitting, then some of the O/S scoop all done, both are on I just forgot to take a snap of the N/S before I pushed it back.

So here goes:

They're looking good mate,

I'm contemplating some porsche scoops for my rear quarter panels but can't find any at a good enough price.

That is the Fuel Cooler, the K20 engine has an oil/water cooler built into the engine, so one less headache.

As for the stones, there is *melon* all to stop stones but then where it is placed you wouldnt get a lot of stones heading that way, theoretically. I guess you could get some flick up from the front wheel but if you tried to cover every eventuallity you would just drive round in a tank.

I hope to get sparks 99% finished today. Woo hoo.....

Then move on to getting the interior finished.

Thanks Les

I saw some of those porsche vents the other day and they would look good, but I can imagine they are well pricey. Anything to be different...well thats my way of doing things.

How is the air in the engine bay going to escape?, i too am fitting a diffuser which traps the heat in, ive had to ceramic coat my exhaust and vent the engine bay through the rear window, saxo fiesta might have a good point if you chip the fuel cooler you could end up spraying fuel over the engine and turning it into a flame thrower with all that air passing through it!! fuel temp hasnt really been a prob for me.

I might look into a stone guard for the cooler, wouldnt be too difficult to whip one up., although they should be able to withstand a certain amount of punishment from stones, else whats the point of having an air to fuild cooler if you cant put it in the air flow.

I will ask the manufacturer what their views are on it and then make a decision.

As for air flow, the wheels will help as they draw air from inside the car for the brakes, and all the air that goes through the fuel cooler is going straight into the engine bay and there will be a slight gap between diffuser and boot lip. Also the diffuser does not cover the whole of the floor area so theres plenty of places for hot air to escape.

The exhaust is getting wrapped in DEI Titanium to help with the heat also.

Oil coolers will take a hell of a battering, but i have had one go before so i personally wouldnt chance running fuel through one but as fuel temp isnt a problem i wouldnt chance it and use a heat shroud instead or go for a cryo system.Quite a few people have experimented with fuel cooling. In all cases it was determined it has basically zero effect or performance. In some cases it was determined that it's actually detrimental. The fuel has to be converted to gas (evaporated) before it can burn. Very cold fuel does not evaporate as well and therefore leads to uneven fuel mixtures. The mass of fuel compared to the mass of air is also small and fuel has a low specific heat value.

Thanks for the info.

What I am trying to acheive is more a measure to get the fuel back to a sensible temperature after having the radiator blowing hot air straight on the fuel tank and the fuel pipes/filters/pump running along a closed tunnel with the coolant pipes all soaking up the heat.

I am going to stick with what I have a make a debris guard for it - each to their own and all that.
