Hey guys,
So i tried to search for this but couldnt really find anything.
Ive been wanting to build/have built a z cars mini for a couple years now, and every year I get closer and closer. My main question is whats better, Hayabusa power or R1 power. Im sure there is alot of personal opinion involved with this and i hope im not opening a can of worms. Just curious to see what ones downfalls are anothers strengths. Thanks alot for any input

Hayabusa has loads more power and shed loads more torque only weighing a little more but will cost more.

Hayabusa all the way. That's what i'm going to be using when i start my project. Obviously you'll pay more for the busa as supposed to the R1. But just look on the america ebay for an busa engine you'll more than likely find one that's cheaper to buy and ship over here than it is to buy one over here. I think the busa engines 1300cc as to the R1 1000cc

the way i see it is the r1 and hayabusa are farely the same withthe busa being a bit quicker, but the r1 has a turbo and the busa doesn't so when you go and put a turbo on the busa it'll blow away the r1! What do you think?

The R1 does not have a turbo fitted as standard.

I have an 2007 r1 motor with 187Bhp as standard so thats plenty to play with! Its lighter than a busa and easy to replace for less. Had no Road test yet so cant really comment. But...
To be honest I dont thinkl you will feel cheated by having either. I went for an R1 without thinking as I just could not stretch my budget anymore. If youve got the money Id use it. Otherwise just get what you can afford

Thanks guys! So it seems the R1 can keep up with the Busa to an extent then bam the Busa is gone?

i suppose ive driven more of these than anyone else on the planet so i will give you my observations on them both
the new R1 is a very good engine it revs to 14000 rpm and gives 180 bhp or there abouts
its one of the cleverest bits of engineering ive seen with a really compact design and very light weight
you do have to rev it hard and keep it in the power to make progress when its in the power its awesome the sound it makes and how it does it is really addictive
the balance of the car feels a touch sweeter than the hayabusa basically due to the lighter all up weight i guess its not much but i can tell within two corners if you made me deaf and i hadnt looked
the gearchange on the yamaha is also very good
the hayabusa is faster theres no substitute for CCs and because of the bigger cc it will pull harder off cam and copes generally much better for the novice (to bike engines )driver
the new 2008 hayabusa is a peach with 8 injectors and some trick electronics its bang up to date and as good as it gets
because of this they fetch good money as they are a straight swap for anearly busa which was no mean engine in its own right
someone earlier observed that there wasnt much between them and i would agree in most customers hands they will both tick all the boxes for you if you are out and out racing then its a 2008 hayabusa
for track days and road use the R1 will do fine
