My 18yr old daughter can't get the hang of the choke, and I fed up with rescuing her. Is there a auto choke available or a carb from another car which has an auto choke that would fit?
Cheers

Steve

I believe the carbs from maestros and montegos had an automatic choke assembly.

They do, they're electronic so you'd also need the ecu.

And the maestro/montego ones were rubbish and always stuck on, lost count of the manual conversions i've done to them.

nope all metro's were manual...

Also, all auto chokes on the maestro/montego are HIF44's, which would be too big for a 998...

Unfortunately, I think she's going to have to learn to put the choke in.... how about something simple like an egg timer which goes off after 5 minutes ??? as a reminder

Im not being funny and mean no offence but i fail to see how your daughter can not get the hang of the choke.

Even if she just pulls it all the way out and leaves it there until the the temp needle is in the middle of the gauge then puts it back in? Its not that difficult?

Or is the problem that she pulls it out but then forgets to put it back in once the engine has warmed up?
