Hey everyone

I have a 1275 metro engine in my mini and recently for my birthday my best mate very kindly bought me the smiths dual water temp and oil pressure gauge which you can see below.

The water temp is not a problem but dont know much about the oil pressure and how to hook it up. I think its a mechanical gauge so does that mean i need to run a capillary tube up to the gauge? I think i found it on mini sport, is this the tube i need?

If so where do i hook the other end up to on the engine?

All advice welcome. Cheers
Dave

just unscrew you idiot red light sender screw the T in and screw your idiot light sender back in one side and the gauge sender in the other

the low oil pressure sender (idiot light) can be found on the far left of the engine block above the starter

The water portion of the gauge may appear easy but there are a couple of things you may want to do or need.

See Mini Spares, look for item #TE5. You MAY need this if you find the expansion bulb on the temp gauge capillary tube extends too deep in the head casting. These adapters are not expensive.

DO NOT cut or think of cutting the water temp capillary tube... EVER. Make sure when installing the capillary tube that you place some coils in its length to absorb vibrations from the engine.

Lastly, apply anti-seize compound to the sender threads before putting the expansion bulb in the head (or adapter). This will save you a lot of grief later.
