I think the frame is too small for me, but I can't afford a new bike so will have to cope with it.
Thanks for the information on the cogs and new chain etc, I'll get cracking on finding a replacement chainset!

i'm interested to know how people are working out their "average" speed as some of them seem quite high.

my cycle computer works mine out for me and although my average speed is down at 16.5mph i cruse along on the flat at 18-19mph. its crawling up hills at 10mph that brings the average down :)

the 18-19mph would be closer to my "mode" speed which is not the same as my average (or Mean) speed.

the definitions....

Mean - To find the mean add all the numbers together then divide the answer by the amount of numbers. Another name for mean is average.

Mode - after listing all numbers in order, the mode is that number which appears the most times. There can be more than one mode provided they are listed the same amount of times.

Median - To find the medium list all the numbers in correct order, being sure to include any doubles. Then find the middle number. If there is an odd amount of numbers - the medium is the middle number. If there is an even amount the medium is found by adding the middle two numbers together and dividing by 2. The resulting number is the medium

I'm not trying to accuse anyone of bulling, I'm just curious where the figures are coming from. if they are true average speeds I'm impressed :D

Had a proper beasty ride home from uni today! I haven't quite got trackstands down yet, so I have to creep at crossing and traffic lights to stop me taking my feet out of the pedals (I have straps that are a ballache to get your foot in), but I didn't stop once and had some serious speed going. I need to start making some longer journeys though, as at the moment I'm only doing smallish journeys that aren't really testing me at all. Getting really good at the big hill up to uni though :shy:

well i feel extremely vulnerable just using the clip-less pedals in traffic, i dread to think what id be like on a fixed wheel bike, i have to admire anyone for riding one :dozing:

another 15miles done this afternoon, there was light drizzle, which was not a problem, but it had been raining earlier so the back lanes were full of puddles and covered in patches of mud :withstupid: my poor bike was covered in it, but luckily it washed straight off (thanks to last weeks application of autoglym :) ).

i also came back with a big brown stripe up my back :dontgetit: (time to get a water proof i think), but despite all that i really enjoyed it. i seem to be making good progress and although the times and speeds are only slowly creeping up, my breathing, legs and recovery after the ride is improving a heck of a lot.

anyone know any good Voodoo dances to bring the warm weather back ????? :)

I use SKS raceblades, they clip on and off really quick and my clubmates dont moan because Im not flicking mud all over them, and I dont get home covered in mud.

managed to do another 26 miles this afternoon, although i hadn't planed to go that far. i was trying out a new route (well an extension to my existing route), missed a turning and went further than i had planned :teehee: i was getting a bit worried when i saw a sign for Market Harborough :withstupid:

by the time i got home it was almost dark, and me with no lights (or even reflectors) and dark clothing on, not very clever :(

need to get serious about kitting the bike out for winter, stll enjoyed it though :)
