:) Sounds nasty man. How's it doing now like?

Just been looking at the blizzards and the blizzard sports and the sports are cheaper :S. Is that because they are thinner?

I've got a meaty scar from it, but other than that all healed up. I rode my bike across London in a blizzard with the stitches still in 5 days after the accident. I'm a firm believer in throwing yourself back in it otherwise you get scared and get worried.

I'm not sure why the sports are cheaper, I've not seen the standard Blizzards so I can't comment really. What's the width difference?

12 miles isn't too bad, I expect you to do it in 30 mins! Are there shower facilities at your work? I wouldn't like to cycle 12 miles then work without a shower.

30 mins ??? well we'll see >_<

no, no showers but it's a grimy engineering factory and i'll be changing clothes, wiping myself down and using about 3 tins of deodorant each day.

i'll take it steady on the way in and then whizz home a lot quicker

The sports are 23c's and the normals are 25c's.

It takes me between 30 and 40 mins to do 10 miles dependant on the wind and traffic. Plus it's really hilly here so you should be able to do 12 miles in 30 mins.

Yeah it's probably the width difference. I went for 23 because you can pump them up harder and thus less rolling resistance. Depends on what you're comfortable with. I've always been told to go as thin as your rim allows when buying tyres for road use.

 :) :) :o :xxx: AAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! This bike has been no end of problems for me!

The thread on the bolt that holds the pedal arm on has stripped and it could have stripped the threads inside the crankshaft :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: !

I'm so annoyed with this bike. It's supposed to be reliable, but all it's doing is causing me uneeded hassle. Think i'm going to sell it and just get something cheaper which actually works instead of worrying whether i will get to work or home on it.

*NOOB ALERT*

Forgive me for asking such a stupid question, i'm more into my cross country mountain biking but would like to get a road bike to comute to work (only 2 miles) and to do some riding for fitness in my time off. I don't have a lot of money to spend (max being about £200 at the min but could be more given a few months)

What suggestions would you have for a beginners road bike? Don't really want to spend too much on case i don't get on with it.

It fell off on the way home from work so i tightened it back up again then went home. Couple of weeks later (only been on twice since that happened) the pedal came loose again so i took it off then put it back on again but it wasn't square so i took it off and put it back on (square this time) then tightened up the bolt and it just kept spinning. Really not happy.

I was at my girlfriends house at the time so she had to drop me off at home the next morning to get my car to work. Think i'm going to have to have a very serious word with the guy at yarm cycles. Really, really not happy.

Plus my head gasket went on my mini this weekend which made things even worse.

Cheers,

Andrew

Went out on a 50 mile ride today around the North York Moors, took 3 and a half hours with 2 stops. Averaged about 16mph overall, there are some hellish hills!
Also achieved a new fastest speed, 51.8 mph down a huuuuuge hill, it got abit scary and my glasses were covered in bugs at the end.
Drank 5 litres of fluid while I was out and was still dehydrated at the end.
Good ride but my hamstrings are feeling a little tight, back to the rowing training again tomorrow!
