Try a Met helmet, I find they are a similar fit to the Boardman stuff, try the grey one Halfords sells (cant remember its name offhand), about £27.
I got a free bike this week! A bike frame out of the skip (saracen Xray), as well as v brakes, 8speed cassette, mech, levers, shifter (rear only)chainset, bashguard!! A whole bike! Is sooo heavy, but I dont need to leave my £2k timetrial bike locked anywhere now, I worry more about the £35 lock than I do the bike!

I personally don't like the Boardman helmet for the fit. I am sure it is a good helmet, but it fits funny and looks a bit ugly
well i have a funny shape head

but yeah, i will look at the others again, thanks

actually that's quite neat, thanks for the pics
No bother

ahh thats a bit of a pain andrew.
I hate (scuse me) pricks that are inconsiderate. He obveusly didn't mean to do it, so why didn't he stop and see if you were ok?
When i get nocked off, one of the lads from the club stayed with me and all the other guys went after the car, they made him come and say sorry and pay for my new wheel
No idea, must just be one of those prick drivers. Oh well, i'm still here that's what counts lol.
As if the lads did that, that's class :)lol.

Anyway, got up to 30 mph on a flat straight piece of road (with a hint of a tail wind, hint beng quite an exageration really, wasn't particularly windy at all).
I thought that was pretty good being on a bottom of the range road bike and the fact i have only been riding into work twice a week since february. Kept it going for about a mile aswell which was even better because then i know it wasn't just a spurt of power from a quick downhill section lol.
Thanks,
Andrew

i was over in stratford today and popped into the big halfords to check out the boardman cycling clothes. well i decided they were no better than the halfords cheaper brands so i bought their own brand shirt and some Polaris shorts, taking advantage of their buy one get one half price deal. the shirt colours go well with the bike and the shorts seem fine, but the next ride will tell....

whilst there i was looking through the bargain bins and found this saddle for just £15 !!!!
it's much better than the one i have, much smoother and firmer so for that price i thought I'd give it a go, at the very least i will be able to eliminate that "shape" and at best i may have a comfy saddle at a bargain price

also got a couple of their cheap bottles on a buy one get one free deal, so all in all not a bad shop from a place thats usually next to useless

it's a huge improvement on my original one, after 25 miles I'm usually uncomfortable but on this one i was just beginning to feel a bit of....... "pressure" ?
it's also a lot more compact when your streamlining down the big hills.
I'll see how it goes long term but it's a big step in the right direction.

too cold to try the new clothes though

Need to get some meat on you so you can wear your new clothes lol.

to be honest it was right on the point of being warm enough to wear them but with out psychic powers i didn't know which way the weather was going to turn

oooh, it was windy though

another point worth making, the cheap £2.99 BOGOF water bottles from halfords are really quite good. i had bought some HIGH5 bottles the other week at twice the price but found the spout to be a bit leaky. the cheaper ones are great and you can get six for less than a tenner

On the note of bottles, i need a new one too. I've broke the giant one i got with me bike (think i was a bit rough when putting the top back on). So yeh, i need a new one. Will probably get a second holder aswell if the BOGOF offer is on up here.
Thanks for the tip craig.
