Where abouts in leicester are you?? I dont see many other minis driving here! Mine is the ratty blue one......
There is a cycleway along the canal which is ok sometimes, but getting to it you NEED kevlar tyres due to the amoount of droken glass. Worst thing on the cycle network is dogs, with those very thin extendable leads. Like a tripwire!!

right on, can't agree more.
i'm in syston, my motors not on the road yet

sorry, I'm banned as i don't have a helmet (and can't afford one :proud: ) :P

:dontgetit: :errr: huh?

What do you mean?

:o

well i mean that it was expressed that anyone on the ride should wear a helmet and i don't have one yet. the only one that fits me really well is the boardman one at hellfords and it's not cheep :teehee: ;)

on the subject of the ride... just for the record, i could do some really good rides/loops starting/finishing at stanford hall if interesred ?? :teehee:

yeah, that was expressed. But to be honest, its not an event as such, and if you took responsabilety (spelling) for yourself, as in didn't try taking anyone to court if you hurt yourself. . it will be ok. Is everyone else ok with that?

i personaly will be wairing my skid lid.

Yes sounds good anorak, what sort of loop size are we looking at then. . . 10/20 miles?
Also if we did it for a charity then we could do sponsers by the lap. :proud:

the reason i say 10/20 miles is then less confedent people would be up for it, if we said 30 mile laps it would put people off.

there is a few nice ride's near me (South Yorkshire) that could be sutable. What ever is easyer for everyone else :teehee:

well from stanford hall you could do loops from 5 miles and upwards going from easy level to some nice steep hills, the roads are nice out that way, that's the main thing, and i guess it's kinda central in location.

I'll have to puts some lines on a map :proud:

Couldn't believe how small it is when it's on the bike. Really discreet :).

sounds good anorak!!

that sounds the better option.
this is a 13.3 mile loop with some nice hills and some nice down hills, goes through nice villages (some pubs/caff's on route) and not one main road.

If im honest i would rather go with yours for the reason of it been centeral anorak.

Joe

When/If/Should the ride go ahead i will do my absolute upmost to raise sponsorship for the riders benefits.

Things such as helmets for those who don't have them maybe? Or at a minimum things like energy bars and gels and what not.. I can't see any of the bike companies i know saying no to be fair, its advertising for them if we put there name down on the forms or whatever.

Anywho, i'll do my bit with that.

Still, i think it should be less then 10 miles per lap like i said before, those who arn't so fit can then get back onto the slip sooner and for everyone in the event, you can say i'm doing 10 laps instead of 1 lap...

Will be much much easier to get quieter roads with the councils support for shorter loops.

If we're bringing in outside muscle then i also have a few people i could get brought in for the ride who are 'elite' to say the least... Just to try and push those fitter riders to absolute meltdown!

well, where are we all from. . .
Im from south yorkshire. I would be happy to have words with our local council.
So thats one possible location.
the roads are really nice back lanes that go through little villages and all that :D

From what Anorak said stanford hall is one he could sort.
i mean, if enough people get interested and are up for it, we could do more than one. See how the 1st on goes, and then run it again say the next month or so. Do it in all differant locations. I would be well up for it but its upto you guys. Does it sound abit ambusius to say we could call ourselfs the TMF cycling club or something. . . get some jersys made up. I could enqure about that at out local club that have there own jersys and jackets etc.

Opinions and ideas on all of that please guys!! :) tell me to shut up please, i get to exited over stuff like this haha

It all sounds good, the main issue there is travelling costs and time for people, if you're having a big ride the last thing you want to do is set out at 6am to get there for starting at 9am, go nuts untill like 2, then hang around talk to people etc then travel home at 9 at night or whatever.

Jerseys etc to get made up wouldn't be a problem, company called 'Endura' do it and they make real good stuff!

The other issue there is cost, most people wouldn't spent £60 on a jersey.

EDIT:

This could much easily work if it was a paid entry event, this way that would ensure regular runs. So you pay £5 to get in to cover running costs, free jersey to use etc and then sponsorship money goes to charity of choice per each ride.

actually that's quite neat, thanks for the pics :)

regarding this "ride", if we make things too complex then it could end up being more of a pain than fun, thats all I'm saying

been out on a ride to try it out yet? :dontgetit:

I had a quick ride when i installed it but today was the first ride. Was really good. Seemed to be really accurate aswell :).

well, where are we all from. . .
Im from south yorkshire.

I'm from the north east so even getting to south yorkshire is stretch for me. Might have to sit these rides out gents :).

Onto the subject of my ride into work today though. Well i pretty much, no i did get run into by a car ;)! I was riding down the road (in the cycle lane i might add) doing about 20 mph, when this car pulled out on me but i managed to get on the brakes. This however, didn't stop the car from hitting me and it hit my back tyre. Fortunately i kept the bike up. I gave the guy a massive dirty look and carried on riding. I was still travelling at some considerable speed after he hit me so i couldn't stop in time to give him an earful.

Looked right in the car as he passed me but as you can imagine he didn't look at me. I got stopped at the next lights but he got through before me. A guy in a van who was behind me when i got hit said he though i was a gonner and that the guy who hit me just didn't look which stops me thinking that it could of been my fault.

There's me rant of the day which i think is quite justified by what happened.

Thanks,

Andrew

ahh thats a bit of a pain andrew.
I hate (scuse me) pricks that are inconsiderate. He obveusly didn't mean to do it, so why didn't he stop and see if you were ok?
When i got nocked off, one of the lads from the club stayed with me and all the other guys went after the car, they made him come and say sorry and pay for my new wheel :)

After chatting with mark, i think we are going to put together the TMF ride, we need to get more interest!

I will pop something in the MTB thread too. I mean, they might not get all the miles we do in but its still numbers. If the 1st ride was near me we have harwell woods, thats good for MTB. That is about . . 12 miles from me. Might be something to tempt people with the MTB's into it. if they did a few laps and went off to harwell.

Is there any off Roading near any of you guys?

Also. After we could have abit of a chat and some sarny's in one of the pub's.

Cheers folk.
Joe

i totaly agree, still want it to be a casual. But would be good to make it abit 'spesial' it would help with the numbers.
