I've recently bought a dawes 301 discovery hybrid off flee bay for £74,
doing the bhf charity ride in May , done the 25ml last year going for the
40 this year. went to the east coast over the weekend visiting and took the
bike. did 18mls on Sat morning and 36.5 mls this morning took 2hrs23mins with
a side and head wind on the way out. got up to 20mph and an average of
16mph. not been serious riding since i was about 17 i am now 42 so not bad.
knackering but i love it... recovery time is really decreasing.
love to get a road bike but funds are a bit tight

36.5 miles is not bad going. this is the kind of distance I'm up to at the moment before i get uncomfortable

Yup, I'm not far from nissan on the A19.
The winds a bit of a git pedaling east to west, you'll be ok of your fit enough though. The guys I ride with aren't particularly regular riders so we just take it easy with the 3 day rides, 50 mile/day.

Aye, i'm just getting into my stride of riding to work then i think we are gunna start doing some serious riding into the moors and stuff. Can't wait to do it like. Hopefully raise loads of money for charity.

If you don't mind someone else tagging along on any training rides on the moors and stuff, I live just near Stokelsey and would love to come along!
I'm away in France training for the next month but after that I will be able to get out and about round here!

It's pretty tame, I haven't got money to turn it into a HHSB...

Next student loan payment I'm going to buy some Nitto track bars (NJS = sex), a smaller front cog for city use so I can skid easier, and possibly some leather bar tape.

More the merrier bud, more the merrier.

My mate has just got a house with his girlfriend so he doesn't really have any spare time for the next month because he's looking for sofas, tables and whatever else you need when you buy a house lol. So that lines up well with your work.

I'll keep you updated in this thread of when we will go or i'll drop you a pm ;).

So today's ride was pretty bad. Started good though. Was nice and sunny on the way to work with no wind at all. A totally different story for the way home though. Got out of the office and one hell of a blast of wind hit me. Couldn't believe how bad it was. Then it started to rain:(. The wind never stopped till i got on the drive at home.

However this is one consolation for the wind. It gave my legs more a bigger work out which in turn means i should get fitter from the ride home :mrcool:.

Cheers dude. I wouldn't mind an Aerospoke but I think I'd wreck one pretty quickly, the roads I ride on are riddled with potholes and I run a front brake too.

good ride today, 37 miles. OK not too far but i set out a route that was very hilly, out past Stanford hall and up to cold Ashby, one of the highest points in the area (they have a big communications tower up there). then on a few more miles, and a few more hills, to guilsborough.

then i turned around and came back again

why so good, well i stayed comfortable and i seemed to be able to cope with the hills very well, OK i didn't exactly fly up them, but my legs stayed strong and my breathing was good. All despite the fact that it was actually very cold out there today.

next... a reasonably flat route but i really want to push the miles, still not managed to get to 50miles ;D

a few pics from the top of the world.....

well here...

Wouldn't be without my fixed gear for around the city. I have two at the moment, one sits around, and one gets hammered. 2 years heavy use so far with next to no maintenance ;D
