i went through a whole package of bike, bottle cages, pedal, shoes and computer and it all came in at £471.95, they said they could do me a deal of £424 which includes set up and first service.
what'd you think ??
also, there is no place for a frame pump so whats the best option these days, dont want one of those small ones that fit on the cage bosses as they completely spoil the look of the bike

Sigh.Ooo its illegalHopefully none of you cycle 2 or 3 a breast?? Because the really p***es me off!!
And how come push bikes don't have to pay road tax??
nope it bugs me too, and its illegal.
push bikes dont damage, or wear down the roads, dont contribute to congestion, and dont polluteGood!!
No but they still use them?? And can cause accidents.
It's not illegal in the slightest. I believe the highway code suggests that you might consider not riding 2 abreast when the road's busy, but it's merely a suggestion. As a club cyclist for many years, though experiencing somewhat of a sabbatical, I have often ridden 2 abreast - it's the normal thing to do on a long ride as a club run is a social event. On roads that tend to be busy, we always spread out into single file, and if we're on a country lane and a car is approaching the rider at the back shouts "car up" and we spread out into single file again. If a car still can't get past we'll pull over where safe to let them past.
Plenty of cars don't pay tax, either due to having low emissions or being old. The vast majority of cyclists are also motorists and already pay tax on a car.
While there are some idiots on bikes, mostly politicians and couriers, it's rare for a cyclist to cause an accident. Why would I risk getting hit by a car? On the other hand there are plenty of idiots in cars that try to run you off the road, shout, throw things at you, swerve, overtake and then turn in front of you, don't give enough room when passing, beep the horn when there's plenty of room to get past, turn around and drive straight at you repeatedly, chase you with a sledgehammer, swing car doors open as you're passing. All of these have happened to me - it was rare to go out for a Sunday morning ride without an incident of some sort.
Returning to the original question, mine's a Raleigh Special Products Division somethingorother. Average speed depends on route, whether I'm taking it easy or with people who are preparing for races but generally in the mid teens. Distance for club runs was on average 50 miles, ranging from 35 in winter to 70 in summer. I'm a member of a club, but only because I maintain their web site and my dad's still there. If I were to get back on the bike, I'd probably manage about 12 mph for 10 miles and collapse in a heap

P.S. horse riders don't pay road tax, neither do pedestrians.

well I'm a bit of a sucker for a nice paint job really (in fact i was discussing with the wife earlier how a bit more colour in the bar tape and some red tyres would improve things
) , but just comparing it to the other bikes in the shop, the spec seems good for the price. i think its about the cheapest you would want to get if your semi serious.
oh yes, i like the look of those tyre inflators , do they have an indefinite shelf life ????
well the main bit your buying is the valve bit

and the CO2 capsules have an indefinate shelf life, and cost next to nothing realy.
1 16gm capsule is enough to inflate one road tyre to 130psi
if you buy the official branded capsules its about 2-3 16gm capsules for £4, but if you buy non branded ones such as on ebay you can get 10 for £7
