One of these is a bit of a cheat as I already built the fixie and have been riding it for a while now, but I thought I'd put the pictures up anyway..
Full set of photos to come (when I'm not at work :(), but for the time being here's my fixie all done and dusted:

Also, at the weekend I went in to the local bike shop to buy a inner tube... walked away with this beauty!

It's currently replaced the fixie as the daily commute, as it's more the right size for me  It's solid but could do with a good service at least to start with. I'm not sure on my plans for this, as yet..
Suggestions welcome!

Sorry in advance, this will be picture heavy! There's not really any background to the story other than I wanted a fixie, and didn't fancy buying an off-the-shelf one. After much hunting I found a road bike that would fit the bill. Lo and a behold a project was born!
I originally started this as a budget build, I was planning on doing it as cheap as possible. Of course I got carried away and ended spending a lot more than I intended!
Anyway, judge for yourselves:

Here's how the frame started life (well, mostly anyway!)

As this was to be a fixie project, the angle grinder came out and the brake lugs and cable routings had to go:

Next, it was off to be sandblasted:

I love the look of the tubing on the old bike frames

At this point, I went on holiday for a week while I was deciding what colour to have it painted (not because of that, it was just coincidence!)

Nice!

I was worried that underneath the lugs would be dips and indents that would need fillering out and smoothing off, looks okay though.

Cheers - I'll get the rest of the photos up when I get a chance, takes a surprising amount of your work day up :D

If it's an older frame chances are the mounts were just brazed on so you should have no problems grinding 'em off. I probably should have smoothed mine off better as close up you can see where they were, but I was just impatient.

Ah okay I see, well I had a phone call this morning letting me know that my frame has been blasted, will pick it up this saturday and get some photos up!

You've got some nice lugging on that frame as well!

It's been my daily commute for about 6 months now, and I love it. I have put on an front brake since then though, as roundabouts are pretty hairy without one! I'm currently planning on na new saddle (maybe a Brooks), and I'm thinking brown so matching brown bar tape. :)

I'm the manager of a bike shop, and you should see the bikes that pass through our spot. I have friends with £2000 fixed wheel bikes with no brakes, spending that on a fixie takes a special kind of effort. Our head mechanics carbon scott addict fixie weighs 13lbs.

I'll try get some pics when i can.
