Hey people thought i would start a thread on my little Mini its a 1990 Mini Mayfair brought it last September and now the wedding and winter is getting out the way thought now is the best time to get on with things, the car has been stripped down to a rolling shell and is currently being sand blasted, new panels purchased are Front panel,, Wings, Inner Right Wing, A Panels, Door skins and scuttle panel, the rest of the car is in good condition due to the fact it has been gargared for the past 9 years of its life and looked after by an old boy that did all the work on it himself the engine hasn't missed a beat since i had i've had it, from what i can see it has a stage one kit on it and with a SU carburetter kit ( FVX 3004 Metro 1000), may look at uprating the engine next year but the main aim this year is interior and exterior of the car, once the panels are fitted and welding done next week hopefully will be getting it rust treated, sub frames powder coated and a full shell respray going from blue to Black, changing the wheels form its current 12" ultralites to some 10x6 deep dish, hilos new brightwork, 10" disc conversion, had some bits made for the interior by retro retrims will link some pics from photo bucket before its sand blasting stage and will then post some afterwards.

How much is it to have a shell sand blasted?

Finally got to go and see my shell today and got some pictures, Nik at the Mini center was pretty impressed with the state of the shell one of the best he had seen for a while which improved my mood some what, boot, subframes, floor panels all in good order, bit of repair work needed on the sills and around the air vents. dropped all the new front panels off this morning including new door skins,A panels, Wings and Front Panel and scuttle should all be welded on and body work completed end of the week, ready in time for waxoil, powder coating subframes and shell respray. cant wait

The shell does not look to bad at all. Was it sand blasted or media blasted?? If it was sand blasted have a good look at the rear quarters and roof to make sure there is no distortion caused by the sand blaster. If its kept in one spot for too long it can cause panel distortion. Not the end of the world by any means it will just need filling.
