He said he'd hopefully be able to start by the end of this week and I might be being hopeful but having it back in time for Christmas would be lovely, we'll see.
Any weekends free I get I will be home and in the garage still! as I'd like to get the engine put back together properly and ready to drop in.

George is making progress with the shell, he said he'll provide me with some photos when he can!
I decided my main priority now is to get the engine stripped apart again and rebuild, just to be confident it's all together properly.
Ran into a few problems along the way.. hopefully I can borrow a flywheel puller tomorrow to get the clutch off.
I also need to refresh almost all the gaskets as well.
I also won't be turboing it straight away.. it'll be a standard 998cc with a 12g295 head, K&N air filter, uprated needle (can't remember the details) & the 2" maniflow exhaust. so it'll be a little pokier than normal.
Because my shell is now out, Dad has his 1956 norton model 50 frame up on the lift with the fuel tank & engine behind and on the floor. So my engine sits nicely behind on the work horses.
Freshly repainted floor as I'd gotten it a bit messy.. as we are also both as the clean points of our rebuilds, it made sense to freshen the floor up a bit to keep the grot away.
Lifted up and positioned.
Working away.
Starting to come apart.
Rear view.
As I took each bit of they were all cleaned (I'd managed to cover just about everything in red oxide dust!)
12g295 head off.
How I left things looking.

Can't beat a tidy working environment! I find I work a lot better when it's all clean, tidy and organised!
I agree, reminds me to give my floor a coat, same colour!! But can't swing a cat in my garage at the moment with 2 mini's

I popped across to James (1275 SPRITE) earlier to borrow a flywheel puller and he is in the final stages of sorting his 1293cc T3 turbo, it looks bloody good!
Right..
Flywheel puller & a crank pulley wheel he kindly gave me to replace my mashed up one. He also gave me trigger wheel that he no longer needs, this might come in use when I'm fitting my megajolt. So a huge thankyou to him!
Clutch off.
Don't forget I've already stripped the engine once, so the clutch was replaced with a turbo one.
Housing off.
Block split.
Tested the re-coiled sump plug with petrol as this is less viscous than hot oil & as the petrol didn't leak, the hot oil certainly won't.
Everything cleaned and organised.
Final job of today was to straighten the timing chain cover out.
Straightened up, keyed and etched.
2 coats of paint, I'll do another when I'm next back.
Touched up the block as well.
Looking forward to putting it back together when I'm back again!
