Hi jordie

darryls funeral is at 3.00pm at glyntaff crematorium, pontypridd, in the rhondda.

the day is thursday 3rd june 2010.

our address is 67 tallis street
cwmparc
treorchy
rhondda
cf42 6ly

should any one who wants to come, darryl will be coming to this address at about 2.15. please come to this address for the mini proccession
there will be no service at the house
everything will happen at the crematorium.
then after its back to the conservative club in treorchy its on the main road to the rhigos mountain.
please come in your mini t shirts.

darryl was not a church man and he didnt believe in it. we had talked on several occasions and he didnt want a vicar there to spout a load of rubbish about him someone who had never met him.

darryl sadly died from a massive pulmonary embolism and dvt.

i am so proud of the man that i married and that the fact he made so many friends over the years in the mini scene if he could see all this he would be chuffed to bits but ever so humble. i cant thank everyone enough for all the messages and kind thoughts about darryl and for me. i will try and make as many mini shows as i can with his mini sadly i cant upload as i dont know how but i guess i will have to learn

thankyou ever so much

marie

I recieved the above from Marie this evening and would like to pass it onto the forum. Anyone wishing to attend the funeral should follow the instructions above set out by Marie.

Unfortunately, I cant make it due to distance, but I hope the mini scene can give him a proud send off.

I received a small email from Marie earlier, too.

I'm really hoping i can make funeral, Im going to have to see what i can arrange. 530 miles is a long way to travel when you can't drive but Darryl is worth it to me.

People Do as they wish but respect does not Cost anything, But worring about a few quid and putting public ....... To pay respect to someone is an honor. Better to just say your unable to attend or you dont think its approperate to attend.

An example A month ago a customers daughter phoned me up to inform me of his death, and asked if I would attend His celerbartion of life, Now He spend a lot of money with me over ten yrs 2 daughters that had minis and drove them, Do you think I worried about the spending the time paying respects and that I was not going to do any work or the cost of going, sorry it was the last thing on my mind. I evan tried to get one of the daughters old mini's back for the day I did this because i respected him, he loved his daughters, did not have massive admounts of money, always put them first and always made sure there cars were safe and in ten yrs iirc each one broke down once, 1 water pump, and the other was he coil failing on the m25. but the customer who has it now said, No I am worried about you putting 40 miles on the clock, Guess what, when the water pump failed 2 weeks later on a sunday they had to wait to get it fixed. I would normally fix it if around to help someone out.

Now I never met taffy, but His advice was useful to alot of us, and this is given freely and respectfully, if you feel you have benifited and can make the effort and want to attend his funeral, then You only get one chance in this case there is no tommow.

can i just say please please please do not put yourselves short of money miss important work and excessive mileage added to the most passionate of all things the mini. darryl would not want that. you have all been most kind and helpful and all the messages that have been left are also fitting tributes to darryl. so please do not worry if you cant make it, or dont want to, you have made a distressing time more bareable and i really do thankyou

It now looks as though I will not be able to attend due to work committments and the distance to travel. I will though be able to attend the Ace Cafe on the evening of the 3rd. Might I suggest anyone going to the Ace on the evening of the 3rd be able to organise something in the Cafe?

What Daves trying to say(and I agree with him on this), please do NOT post up and say that you'll be attending and then back out. If theres any doubt in your mind that you won't be able to attend, don't post. I don't want to see this thread filled with empty promises. If you're unsure please DON'T post.

As much as I would love to be able to to Mrs Shifty is due to give birth anyday now and I can't be too far away.

South Wales Minis have kindly offered to help any TMFers find the way to Darryl's home and also you can arrive together. If anyone would like to meet up with them before the funeral at Cardiff West Services (approx. 40 mins drive away) please let member ynysforgan6 know.
