Hi

Now I know the odds of this are slim but does anyone know of a site/diagram which gives sizes of all nuts/bolts/washers etc on a mini?Or know of a place to get nuts and bolts cheap

http://www.minimall.co.uk/

Email this place and they do a thing called 'Mini in a Bucket', its not on the website. Covers the majority of the nuts, bolts and washers you'll need to restore a mini.

Did you buy one then?.Interested in this but what does it cover.Mean does it cover the whole car for nuts, bolts and washers or just certain areas.

Mean i know it will not cover some areas with specialist bolts that are not the norm but i would hope it covers all the rest

I have just been looking at sc parts for bolts and most of them where around 20-60p each but it adds up after a while.I cant wait to i have to buy the four bolts that hold the small steering arm to the front hubs as there £24 for 4 >_< .

Think it does pretty much cover everything from what I remember apart from the bolts that hold the engine and gearbox together. Does have the thermostat bolts though as I remember them asking which ones I needed. Just send them an email with your questions. I havent used mine yet apart from the subframe bolts. It will soon be coming into action though >_<

70 ish pence each at Mini Sport!

I've used metric stainless where I could use nuts & bolts. Easier to come by & cheaper - Screwfix do some nice allen head ones as well. Got some othets from ebay & such. Only went to Moss for the specific odd sized ones.

Think minisport have had enough of my money recently. The odd sized ones from moss are damm expensive though.Think buying the fixings for my project may be the most expensive bit :)

Get a parts catalogue if you want to know what parts are assembled in what order everywhere. The Moss catalogue has a table of what part numbers relate to what sizes.

Unfortunately that's a terrible idea. Most forms of stainless are very brittle, the shinier and prettier and cleaner the stainless is the more brittle it is generally speaking. Most varieties that you will find in places like Screwfix are too brittle to hold anything important together. Luckily socket headed bolts tend to be of a high grade but it is essential when choosing not to use genuine parts that you make sure the fittings you are buying are of the corret grade for the application. Screws and bolts from DIY sheds are generally very weak indeed. If you don't know that there is a difference between grades of fastener, or don't know how to read the grades on the nuts, bolts and screws that you buy, stick to genuine parts.

I've been using my local engineering firm, they've been able to replace all the UNF no problem and where possible ive used metric high tensile fasteners from them. I'd say best bet to save buying them from minisport etc is to find an engineering firm local to you.....

This is the best bit.. compared to 70p etc on minisport, i pay around 10/20p!!!

If anyone near Coventry needs nuts and bolts - Kebrell are very good - minimum charge is £5, but I got the impression there is no strict price per unit and he sort of suggests a price depending on the weight. In other words try and buy everything at once.

The quality looks good too - better than some nuts I bought off ebay.

Mart.
